  • Very Low Calorie Dog Food

    By on

I have been using this food for over 1 year as my dog has allergies. My vet recommended. Then I found Natures Variety LID duck which also does the job THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WITH ROYAL CANIN is the recommended daily feeding requirements. 5 1/4 cups a day vs. 3.5 cups per day for Natures Variety. Royal Canin has 287 calories per cup vs 446 calories for Natures Variety. My 75 pound dog won't eat 5 1/4 cups per day. So if you think is is an expensive food you are right. Almost 2 cups of food per day more. Wow! I would only use this food as my last option.

  • Kibble pieces too small for a big dog

    By on

Forced to try our GSD on this food due to severe allergies. He has not been on it long enough to know if that's working for him - the early indications are good though. But he does seem to struggle with the size of the kibble - very small pieces for a big dog. He chases them around the bowl towards the end of his meal, even changed from metal to ceramic bowl to help. Shame they don't do a large breed variant like other brands with bigger pieces of kibble. If his allergies are alleviated, we'll put up with the kibble chasing!

  • Thank goodness!

I usually give my pug girl the Venison diet, but there seems to be a shortage in the production of this. We would get that one from her vet every month, but a day I stopped by for some meds for Meeko I overheard they hiked the price to almost double! I get everything else for her on Chewy therefore I would now get her food as well. I called her vet about the shortage and she suggested this rabbit diet or the duck. Chewy was out of the duck so I went with this one and Meeko loves it! She's allergic to chicken so changing her food is a bit nerve racking, but so far so good! She's been on it for about 2 weeks and all is great! Recommended by our Vet dietary specialist on skin, digestive issues and infection, this product has helped our near 13 year old Labrador Retriever more than we imagined. She loves the smell, taste, kibble size of this exceptional quality product.

  • great product

    By on

My very allergic pup has only ever been able to eat the Royal Canin PV dog food without having stomach problems or very itchy skin. SInce that food is no longer available, I made the switch to the PR food. Since switching, my dog continues to have great success with this brand. No stomach issues and decreased itching. He also loves the taste and gobbles it up!

  • So far, so good

    By on

Began implementing this food into my 11 year old bulldog's diet due to discontinuation/unavailability of the Royal Canin Adult PV (Potato and Venison). Slowly transitioning, and there has been 0 issue thus far. Bully was diagnosed with IBD in May, 2016, after exploratory surgery due to extreme sickness with unknown origin. He has had 0 digestive issue since he started eating Royal Canin PV prescription food in August, 2016. Highly recommend Royal Canin prescription food. If food allergy is unknown, I highly suggest that a novel protein prescription food be tried.

  • So far so good

I might be taking a chance reviewing this food only two weeks in, but so far I'm pleased with Royal Canin PR. Both my dogs are Boxer mixes and have IBD (rather unpleasant). Thy were previously on the PV but apparently there is a venison shortage (Royal Canin should come to Virginia- we have an over abundance of deer). Anyhow I wasn't looking forward to switching food for my girls, but they seem to be doing well! One had a small IBD relapse but I upped her prednisone slightly for one week and she has since been doing well. I am frustrated with Royal Canin's lack of consistency and not telling people ahead of time when there's a shortage, but I have no complaints about the quality of food. • Vet Preferred

    By on

I have an incredibly allergic Shih Tzu. She has had repeated Staph infections which ultimately led to MRSA. She had to see a Specialist Vet. The Vet highly recommended this dog food. The improvement in my dog's allergies has been amazing since eating this food. However...my Bischon Frise, who has never had food allergies, is terribly allergic to this food. Sooooo...it definitely is not for every dog.

  • Love this food

My dog has severe IBS and has been on a prescription diet for some time now. I switched her to Royal Canin Adult PR as she was developing issues with the other food. She loves this food and since being on it has had no issues at all.

  • Could Not Have Been Better

    By on

Our dog needs this special food and Chewy's could not have been better. They reached out to our vet and got the prescription taken care of the same day. The food was shipped on time and well. My wife, the puppy and I could not be happier with the customer service (answer questions before the sale), the prescription, and the shipping. Plus out little Penny loves this food.
