About Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Health For Cats

Acute or chronic? If your Veterinarian thinks your pet has a gastrointestinal issue, they may classify it as acute or chronic. Acute conditions appear suddenly and deteriorate rapidly. Chronic conditions develop over time and may worsen gradually.

Worried About Your Cat’s Digestion?

Your cat’s gastrointestinal (GI) system helps support the rest of the body by properly digesting food and making sure to extract the nutrients needed for overall health. Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best gastrointestinal health solutions and management options for your pet.

Know Your Cat’s GI System

  1. Mouth: where ingestion of hair and formation of hairballs can occur, due to frequent grooming.
  2. Stomach: the first part of the GI tract, where inflamation may lead to vomitting.
  3. Small Intestine and Pancreas: where the small intestine is responsible for absorption of nutrients within the diet and the pancreas aids in digestion.
  4. Large Colon (Tranverse): which is responsible for forming stool.
  5. Large Colon (Descending): which is responsible for forming stool; any alteration to this process may lead to constipation or diarrhea.
  6. Rectum: where stool leaves the body

How Nutrition Can Help

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin GI formula that is

Rich in nutrients and easily digestible

Balanced for good digestion, with a blend of fibers and prebiotics to support digestive health

Highly palatable to encourage eating, even when appetite is decreased due to gastrointestinal upset

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

My 17 year old cat Lily has kidney disease and needed a better quality food. I am amazed at how great her fur looks now after being on this new food just a couple of weeks. What a bonus we didn’t expect! She is also doing much better with her gastrointestinal issues. The whole reason why our vet recommended this food.

It works but hard to eat for older cat with no teeth lol

It's really the only option for our senior cat who had to have hernia surgery. She likes it enough, though we have to mix it with some non-prescription food cause

It's really the only option for our senior cat who had to have hernia surgery. She likes it enough, though we have to mix it with some non-prescription food cause she doesn't finish the whole can. Not sure if it's the texture (it's sliced chunks) or the extra fiber. She only has two teeth left so it's hard for her to eat the chunks. We just mash it before serving to turn it into pate-ish consistency

My Cooper having constipation issues and thought I’d try this food on vet’s recommendation. Cooper eats it very well. Just wish it had more gravy. He likes gravy. Too soon to tell if it’s helping. Like the fact it contains probiotics because I haven’t been able to get him to take probiotics that you have to add to food.
