Decent product. Better than the electric files.

By MAXTizzle on Sep 30, 2021

I have owned different electric files, and I have to say they are not 'quiet', and they are bulky. I think this file is great for getting rid of the flaky nails that occur after clipping. Also for filing down rough edges between clipping days. My dog sometimes gets rough nails towards the paw pad, so the file allows me to get at the full length of nail. My dog is also tolerant of it, so it's a win. The one thing I don't really care for is the shape of the file. I thought it would be fully round, but its curved to mimic the shape of the nail. It doesn't quite work in that shape, so I always have to flip the file around to get the right surface contact, but other than that it gets the job done. Much faster!

By MNdogMom on Oct 13, 2021

This nail file is the best I’ve bought so far because it’s coarse enough to make the ordeal faster! My yorkie needs his nails trimmed quite short or he has trouble on smooth flooring surfaces. I’ve been unable to trim them short enough with the dog nail clipper without causing him to bleed. I’ve found if I clip a small amount and file afterwards, I can trim them much shorter overall with no bleeding.

    Nice for Finishing Nails

By DogMom on Sep 19, 2021

I was considering switching to a Dremel, but decided to just order the Safari clippers along with their nail file and keep it simple. I followed the instructions on the packaging to hold the nail in place and just do a long smooth stroke, not back and forth, after I clipped nails. A couple strokes on each nail was enough to smooth the sharp spots. I like that this nail file is curved. It made getting the tip of the nail really easy.

    worked for us!!!

By natalie on Aug 6, 2021

My dog hates to get her nails trimmed. Nothing worked for us because she will curl her lips and growl out of fear. We tried everything. Human nail clipper when sleeping, dremel, dog nail clipper this one worked for us. The trick is to start slow and be patient. She did curl her lip at first just because when we take her paw and try to do something she senses it. So we praised her pet her and gave her lots of treats. Just tapped her paw with it lightly as giving treats. When she was comfortable we tried and after a couple of times she was giving us her paw for more treats. Good luck!

    Honest review

By PugMom on Sep 17, 2021

Just a fancy nail file to make nice smooth edges. Nothing more. If your dog or cat needs a manicure, then this is for you. If nails need a trim then not so much. Made to file in only one direction according to directions.

    Alright...but

By jtav on Sep 8, 2021

I bought this to file down my pup's nails as they were getting long and sharp. He does not sit still long enough for me to use this. I bought an electric nail filer, which he does not like (due to the sound) but he will tolerate it and it's faster.

    Just ok for my puppy!

By LuciaRinx on Aug 14, 2021

I purchased this dog nail file to get my 8 week old puppy used to the handling of his paws and feel of filing. The nail file is ok, you have to apply a little pressure for it to work and that's where the puppy reacts. He did ok, it will take much patience, practice and consistency.

    Safari Nail File

By Johnny on Jun 20, 2021

The nail file for the price and general quality was very good. Even use it myself as opposed to a woman's file when I need one. With an Airedale with larger black nails, wish it was a bit rougher, and the reason for four stars. Otherwise very pleased.

    Love this file!

By Stormismom on Apr 19, 2021

Worked great! Both frenchies stayed more still than usual when I have tried to clip or dremel their nails. Love how the two green files I got from chewy got under the curly nails and took even the calloused skin underneath off without a struggle. My vet recommended these files and I was amazed at how well they worked. She said do not “back and forth” the nails, but just do them in long strokes. It almost seemed to calm both dogs.
