How are Sentinel Spectrum and Sentinel Flavor Tabs different from other heartworm medications?
Not all heartworm medicines provide the same spectrum of parasite protection. Sentinel Flavor Tabs are chewable tablets that protect dogs against fleas, heartworms, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. Sentinel Spectrum is a soft, beef and bacon flavored chew that adds tapeworm protection to offer the broadest coverage available.
My dog weighs more than 100 pounds. Are Sentinel Specturm or Sentinel Flavor Tabs a good option for him?
Yes. Talk to your veterinarian about the appropriate dose for your pet.
My dog is a toy breed. Are Sentinel Specturm or Sentinel Flavor Tabs okay for his small size?
Yes. Both Sentinel Specturm and Sentinel Flavor Tabs offer a size that can be given to small dogs. Sentinel Spectrum has a size available for dogs weighing from 2–8 lbs and Sentinel Flavor Tabs has a size available for dogs weighing from 2–10 lbs.
I see a few fleas on my dog. Is the medication working?
You may see an occasional “hitchhiker” adult flea that your dog has picked up at the dog park or in the yard or other infested environments where 95% of the flea population lives in the form of eggs, maggot-like larvae, and pupae. Sentinel Specturm and Sentinel Flavor Tabs put an end to fleas before they become adults. You may need an adulticide, such as Effitix Topical Solution for Dogs, to treat occasional adult fleas.
Can I give either Sentinel Spectrum or Sentinel Flavor Tabs to my cat?
No, both Sentinel Spectrum and Sentinel Flavor Tabs are only approved for use in dogs.

Works as far as I know, but Chewy is great!
By Dylan on Dec 11, 2020
Had some difficulty getting the prescription with my vet sorted out but Chewy was able to push it through and get it squared away. The tablets work as far as I know. Always buying from Chewy though.

I just purchased this for my dog so I feel that I can not make a good review until he has been given this for at least 6 months.

not sure how effective this is...
By Rose on Aug 17, 2020
I’ve noticed my dog itching at a few spots on her body. I can’t tell if it’s from fleas. I’ve also noticed since she’s been on this med she’s been pretty nauseated in the days after she takes it. I won’t know about how well it does with preventing heartworm until I get her tested again in a few months! I’m considering switching back to her old heartworm med and then adding a flea/tick preventative with it.

Best preventative!
By Rachel on Jul 13, 2020
I am a psycho about good preventatives, and after a horrible experience with Trifexis for my previous large dogs (they both refused to just chew the tablet, would often vomit after taking it, and then one of the dogs still developed heartworms) and hearing equally terrible things about HeartGard, I chose Sentinel for my current dog. We have been using it for a year and I am so happy with it! My dog eats the tablet like it’s candy. He is outdoors, in the woods, on the farm, around other dogs, and travels often and we haven’t had a single worm or flea issue (I do use a topical flea and tick during the summer, but feel comfortable without it during cold months). I am also happy with the price compared I am a psycho about good preventatives, and after a horrible experience with Trifexis for my previous large dogs (they both refused to just chew the tablet, would often vomit after taking it, and then one of the dogs still developed heartworms) and hearing equally terrible things about HeartGard, I chose Sentinel for my current dog. ChewyRX Communication is AWFUL!!
By Chow123 on Jul 9, 2020
Not flea proof: I use this primarily for heartworm medication for my dog, and she still gets flea bites while on it. I had great experiences with Chewy in the past but ChewyRX has given me a major headache. There is no direct number to the pharmacy, so you have to speak through general customer service and wait in between correspondence. They were terrible with communication and I had to play the middleman between chewyRX and my vet. Turns out, they faxed the original order to my vet and never bothered with calling/emailing. After 2-3 weeks, I called again to hash this out, and got verbal confirmation from both sides that my order was processing + extension on the order for 14 days. No email responses to my inquiries either. If I hadn't called again and wasted a third hour on the phone, I would have just kept waiting. … more

Fast service - easy to do business with Chewy! Chewy also went the extra mile and shipped part of the order while waiting for vet to authorize script. Website is easy to navigate.
