The enzymatic toothpaste has ingredients primarily sourced from the USA with some foreign ingredients. The formula also includes ingredients (one each) from: Austria, Malaysia, Japan, Israel, China and Canada.

Does this paste help to remove tartar/plaque?

This toothpaste will not remove tartar or plaque. However, the hydrogen peroxide producing formula will help reduce the buildup of plaque and tartar and control it with regular use.

What are the enzymes inside the toothpaste?

The toothpaste contains the patented technology of enzymes for the purpose of generating antimicrobial compounds upon contact with an animal’s saliva. The enzyme, Glucose oxidase and glucose, when combined, and brushed in the animal’s mouth, produces hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide activates the salivary peroxide system present in the saliva, which in turn produces a potent antimicrobial agent hypothiocyanite. The combination of the antimicrobial agent and the hydrogen peroxide with the brushing, helps to reduce the count of pathogens in the mouth and particularly around the gum line. The elevated levels of the antimicrobial agent produced, inhibits oral pathogens which would prevent fresh breath and promote tartar build-up.

Isn't Aspergillus Niger incredibly dangerous? How and why is it used in this product? It is the only thing keeping me from buying. It seems dangerous for the processor, at a minimum.

Aspergillus is selected based upon their healthful benefits, history of use in animals and humans, and their natural presence in the digestive tract. Aspergillus Niger helps kill bacteria and break down plaque.
