  • Around 50% of pet owners protect against just ticks & fleas or heartworm

  • Was >98.9 % effective against tick infestations in 48 hours
  • Resulted in 99.2% efficacy for adult roundworm and reduction in fecal egg count, and >94% efficacy for hookworm

What should I do if a dose is missed, or if my dog vomits after administration?

  • If a dose is missed, a new dose should be given immediately. If a dose is vomited or spit out, a new dose should be given again. Then, continue on the prescribed monthly dosing schedule.

Why should I recommend Simparica Trio or Simparica?

  • Simparica and Simparica Trio are both highly palatable chews that protect against ticks and fleas in dogs, but Simparica Trio also has the added benefit of moxidectin and pyrantel to protect dogs against heartworms disease, roundworms, and hookworms.

How do Simparica Trio’s active ingredients work?

  • Sarolaner is an acaricide and insecticide belonging to the isoxazoline group. Sarolaner inhibits the function of the neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor and glutamate receptor and works at the neuromuscular junction in insects. This results in uncontrolled neuromuscular activity leading to death in insects or acarines.
  • Moxidectin is an endectocide in the macrocyclic lactone class. Moxidectin acts by interfering with the chloride channel-mediated neurotransmission in the parasite. This results in paralysis and death of the parasite.
  • Pyrantel pamoate is a nematocide belonging to the tetrahydropyrimidine class. Pyrantel acts as a depolarizing, neuromuscular-blocking agent in susceptible parasites, which causes paralysis and death or expulsion of the organism.

How old does my dog have to be to start using Simparica Trio?

  • Simparica Trio has been demonstrated safe for puppies as young as 8 weeks, and weighing as little as 2.8 lbs.

Are Simparica Trio tablets able to be split for administration?

  • Simparica Trio chewables are not scored and cannot be divided.

Is administering Simparica Trio at the same time as other heartworm, tick, or flea medications safe?

  • At this time, No studies have been conducted to evaluate Simparica Trio administered alongside with other medications. But, Simparica Trio has demonstrated efficacy against heartworm disease, ticks and fleas in one chewable so there is no need to administer another product.

Can Simparica Trio be administered to cats?

  • Simparica Trio has only been approved for dogs and cannot be administered to cats.

How does Simparica Trio differ from other preventatives?

  • Simparica Trio is a first of its kind monthly chewable to protect dogs against heartworm disease, fleas, five types of ticks, hookworms and roundworms.

How often should I give Simparica Trio to my dog?

  • Administer Simparica Trio chewable once a month to your dog.

How do I switch from a flea and tick medication or another heartworm medication?

  • To ensure your dog is kept protected through the process, talk to your veterinarian before switching to Simparica Trio from another preventive medication.

Does Simparica Trio require a prescription?

  • Simparica Trio does require a prescription. Talk to your vet today about Simparica Trio, and your veterinarian can prescribe the correct dose for your dog.

If I’m late giving a Simparica Trio dose, what should I do?

  • Give a new dose immediately if a dose is missed. A new dose should be given again if a dose is spit out. Then, continue on the monthly prescribed dosing schedule.

What are some signs and symptoms of heartworm disease in dogs?

  • The first signs of heartworm disease may be mild and hard to notice. As time progresses, you might see something known as heartworm cough, a decreased appetite, or a reluctance to exercise. More advanced stages of heartworm disease result in symptoms including trouble breathing, pale gums or dark urine—a result of blocked blood flow.

Is there a cure for heartworm disease?

  • Thankfully, heartworm disease can be treated, but the process can be pricey, lengthy and hard on your dog’s health. While heartworms can be removed, the damage to your dog’s heart and lungs may remain. Heartworm disease preventatives for dogs protect your dog from the effects of heartworm disease and prevent this trauma.

What should I do if my dog has already tested positive for heartworm disease?

  • If your veterinarian has confirmed this diagnosis, they will talk to you about how to treat heartworm disease in your dog.

How fast does Simparica Trio work to kill ticks and fleas?

  • Simparica Trio works fast to get rid of ticks and fleas on dogs. It starts to kill deer ticks within 8 hours, and fleas within 4 hours.

Are hookworms contagious?

  • Dogs become infected with hookworms from contact with contaminated feces, contaminated environments, from mother to pup, as well as eating wild animals. Hookworms in dog feces can lead to contaminated outdoor areas, which is how people can get hookworm infection.

What are intestinal parasite symptoms?

  • Both hookworms and roundworms can cause malnutrition in dogs, shown by anemia, weakness, weight loss or stunted growth.
  • Roundworms can also cause vomiting, diarrhea or a pot-bellied appearance.
  • Hookworms can cause pale gums and itchy paws. Hookworms can be deadly if left untreated, especially in young puppies or adult dogs with a weakened immune system.

Not worth the money and risk

    By on

It is supposed to be chewable, but my dog would not eat it. I had to force feed her and much was lost. However, in retrospect, this may be a good thing, because after reading about the possible side effects, I am watching my dog like a hawk. The vet should have explained all of this before "selling" this to me. The treatment may be worse than the "disease".

    Be cautious

    By on

I have a very healthy dog, and we (alongside our vet) decided to switch our ComboGuard to Simparica Trio due to ticks being so awful in our area. Within 36 hours of the dose, my dog began having tremors that were terrible. This is a side effect of the medicine, but having such a healthy dog with no issues at all, we felt safe. Thankfully, after a week the tremors are lessening and expected to go away with no long term effects. I guess the good news is we won’t have fleas or ticks!! But I’m trying to share my experience so others will do research and make a very informed decision. This was one of the scariest times we’ve experienced, our dog included.

    Works GREAT!

    By on

We use to give Frontline Plus and Hartguard but this is a great way to remember and pay less for protection. We have an 11 year old Lab and a 5 month old Lab. They both seem to do fine, no side effects. We have seen NO fleas or ticks and it's nice to be able to give this to them on the 1st of the month and not worry about it. They take it fine. We've been using this for about 4 months now.

    3in1Medication

Not quite as expensive as buying 3 different medications. My Malinois seems to tolerate this better than other heartworm medication, less irritating to her GI tract, and no loose stools! A HUGE plus.

    Chewy communication becoming very unreliable!

Never really knew the status of this item as the pharmacy seems to just ship when they feel like it and the same with the status of the vet approval! One fellow assured me my 20% discount coupon would be applied. Never happened!

    One tablet and done!

    By on

I have two dogs, one is 46lbs and the other is 62lbs I was using a tablet for fleas and ticks and another for heart worm two different weights so I was buying four tablets a month. My princess little girl did not like one of the tablets so it was a project to get her to eat it. I saw the commercial for Simparica Trio and my vet said she hadn’t heard any negative reports and was happy to write the prescription. I received the order in a timely manner and both dogs ate the tablets just like a treat. This is the first dose but I am confident it will control the fleas, ticks and Heart worms as well or better than their previous medications. Because they both take the same dosage, it will be a cost I have two dogs, one is 46lbs and the other is 62lbs I was using a tablet for fleas and ticks and another for heart worm two different weights so I was buying four tablets a month. Great product

My dog was taking Simparica in addition to his heart worm medication so I was so happy to see this combo medication come out. He has tons of stomach issues so I was a bit leery that it might make him sick, but so far so good.

FINALLY an all in 1 pill that WORKS!

    By on

I ordered Simparica Trio through my vet for my St. Bernard/Lab mix. I have used a topical flea and tick in the past and then a separate heartworm preventative and felt like I was spending tons of money between the two. I didn't like the topical because it left my dogs soft silky coat greasy for days and although it claimed to be waterproof I was still apprehensive to give him a bath in the summer. I knew this was a new product on the market and asked my vet if they had (or any patients had) experience with it. My vet explained that unfortunately they were supposed to go to a product demo put on by the manufacturer but it was canceled due to Covid (this was early April). My vet explained that unfortunately they were supposed to go to a product demo put on by the manufacturer but it was canceled due to Covid (this was early April). She did say that she would absolutely use it for her own dogs as the ingredients have been around for a long time and are commonly used in a lot of anti-parasitic and flea/tick control products. This made me feel a little bit better about trying such a new product. My dog is extremely food motivated so I don't even have to hide the tablet in anything, he takes it just fine. I haven't found a single flea on him all summer. Right before I ordered he did have hookworm (I suspect doggy daycare) and had to take medication for this. After the medication and 2 rounds of Simparica Trio he was worm free. Previously my dog would have stomach issues the first few days after I gave him his old heartworm preventative, he has not had this issue with this product. Overall I am very happy with Simparica Trio and will continue to use it. … more

The only thing that has worked in years!

    By on

We live in Charleston, SC where the fleas are horrible all year round along with mosquitoes and ticks. I've flea bombed my house and bought topical treatment for my dogs after bathing them in dawn dish soap and we still had fleas. A week after being on Simparica we were flea free! This product is great because not only does rid your dog of fleas, it protects them from worms and ticks.
