SmartyKat Instincts Wild Wand Electronic Motion Cat Toy

I got this for my senior cat, who has feline dementia, to try various interactive toys and see if I could entice her to play, use her instincts, and exercise her mind and body. She used to love rattle mice, and has caught flies out of midair most of her life. But with age and physical changes in general, and then with the cognitive decline/ dementia (one of the signs of that is no longer playing), she wasn’t playing with anything anymore. So, I purchased several interactive toys with various attachments to try with her, including this one. She initially seemed interested in this for a few seconds, batted at it, but then quickly became skeptical and even appeared uncomfortable. I’ve tried it a couple more times with her, and she didn’t even approach it the other times, still won’t play, and tends to avoid it when it’s on. But, the lowest setting was the only one she wasn’t immediately overwhelmed by, and it’s great that there are a number of settings with speed and motion type. I reviewed several before purchasing this brand, and many reviews talked about other brands going way too fast. This one has all the options, and is perfect in that way- my girl just isn’t in to anything right now (except brief interest in an actual fly that got in my home). So, no fault of this product. It’s worth trying in my opinion! It just doesn’t get my cat’s stamp of approval due to her cognitive decline symptoms.
