how long can you store the hay for without it going bad?

Answer by ChewyOct 13, 2021
If hay is kept away from sunlight ,heat & humidity it should last a year or more. As time goes on it may lose some of its field fresh fragrance, but it doesn’t go bad unless there is a source of moisture in its storage area.

How long will a 9lb box last 2 male guinea pig without spoiling?

Answer by ChewyFeb 06, 2023
Depending on the amount your guinea pigs eat will determine how long a box with last. For active, growing, pregnant, or nursing pets, offer handfuls of alfalfa hay to your pet(s) daily. For older pets, use as a treat by giving just a pinch of alfalfa. Offer different hays together to add variety to your pet's diet and to find your pet's favorite types of hay.

What are the dimensions of the box?

Answer by ChewyDec 30, 2021

This was the most disappointing hay that I've purchased. It is brown and very stringy. There are so many dried leaves in it and pieces of blue plastic twine. My guinea pigs will not do anything other then pull it from their hay holder to search for better hay. I understand sometimes leaves etc get in there but the condition of the hay inaddition to the leaves and twine combined just really made it so disappointing and a big waste of money. They will not eat it at all.

I was happy that my bunnies enjoyed Sweet Meadow Farm Timothy hay, it had loads of leaves with fewer stems. Bought it since 2024 then boom, now it has more stems, and the leaves are almost 50% brown. The bunnies don’t want to eat hay!!! And they try to cut corners by skipping a plastic bag on a 40lb box of hay. What’s going on with their business mindset? This is wrong.

So sad, not only did it take way too long to receive but my guinea pigs will not even go near it. The hay is crumbly, discolored, and definitely not fresh. I always buy Oxbow and this was a purchase I surely regret. Off to the store I went to buy Oxbow for the piggies!

Soft and very green

My guinea pigs and rabbits love this hay. It is always fresh and green! We love this hay since it is very low in dust.

Bought in Bulk and Stuck with Grass

I bought the 40 pound box hoping to find an affordable bulk option for hay. I’ve bought other hay from Sweet Meadow Farm so I thought I knew what I was getting

I bought the 40 pound box hoping to find an affordable bulk option for hay. I’ve bought other hay from Sweet Meadow Farm so I thought I knew what I was getting. I was wrong! This hay is 100% the soft, more grass-like hay and 0% the thicker, more rigid straw-like pieces. My bunny’s poop is so dark from not getting any ruffage that I’m going to have to mix this with other hay. I do not recommend this.

I was excited to get my bunnies some hay that would last them a couple months. When I got this package yesterday the box was soaking wet. It’s hay inside was falling out and wet. The box looked as if it was opened, tape is coming off. Looks like they ran over the box. There are holes everywhere. I can’t use half of the hay because it’s soaking wet. There are black oil like marks all over the box. And the tape sealing the box shut was completely off. I am NOT happy. I’ve bought from Chewy and Sweet Meadow Farms for quite a while now.

Picky Marvin loves this hay

Marvin is a 10 year old bunny that we found on the side of the road when he was about 5 weeks old. He is a very picky eater. This is the only hay that he will munch
