About Taste of the Wild Dog Food

The Diet Nature Intended

They might not be wolves or coyotes, but today's domestic dogs share the same ancestral cravings. To satisfy these instinctual appetites, Taste of the Wild wet and dry formulas are made with real, roasted meat plus fruits, vegetables and legumes that are chosen for their specific health benefits.

Energy That Lasts

Taste of the Wild is made with premium meats like wild boar; buffalo; smoked salmon and turkey; and roasted bison, lamb, quail, venison and duck. Every formula is grain-free and provides lasting energy with complex carbs from sweet potatoes and legumes. These highly digestible proteins and fiber-rich carbohydrates will keep your pup feeling full and energized throughout the day.

Immune System Support

Since 70% of your pet's immune system is found in the gut, it makes sense to choose a food that's good for the digestive tract. Taste of the Wild includes prebiotics and species-specific probiotics with bacteria that's naturally found in a dog's GI tract. The proprietary K9 Strain probiotics are added after the kibble is cooked so your dog gets guaranteed live, active cultures that support healthy digestion.

Maximizing Nutrient Absorption

To help your pet's body absorb all of the beneficial minerals in her food, Taste of the Wild recipes have chelated minerals. That means they can easily attach to proteins for absorption during digestion. So your canine pal will enjoy the full value of every carefully selected mineral that these foods have to offer.

Perfectly Balanced Omegas

Taste of the Wild gives your pup just the right dose of omega fatty acids in every bite. Marine-sourced omega-3 comes from salmon oil, smoked salmon or ocean fish meal, or a combination of these ingredients. Omega-6 from plant sources balance out the omega-3s, and they work together to help maintain your pet's skin and coat health and to support overall wellness.

Ingredients for Better Health

The powerful superfood trio of blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes can be found in every delicious recipe, along with their immune-boosting properties.

TOMATOES AND TOMATO POMACE: Help support overall health by providing vitamin C, soluble fiber and rich in concentrated lycopene, a premier antioxidant.

BLUEBERRIES: Antioxidant-rich superfood that's full of flavor and loaded with vitamins C and E, healthy carbs, dietary fiber and manganese.

RASPBERRIES: Delicious berries packed with potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium, and they also provide fiber and antioxidants.

what cup measurements for dog age and weight?
Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2018
Please see below for the feeding instructions.

Is there a significant difference between the puppy & adult food?
Answer by ChewyJun 12, 2018
The difference between the adult and puppy formulas, are the amount of nutrients. Puppies require more protein than adult dogs because their bodies are busy growing. Puppy food should be higher in calories than adult food to compensate for how much energy puppies expend by growing.

Based on my puppies weight, is the feeding instructions considered per meal or total fed to the dog throughout the day? I feed her twice a day AM&PM (20-30 range)
Answer by ChewyOct 23, 2018
The feeding guidelines are for daily feedings.

Can I switch between puppy Pacific stream and puppy high prairie without upsetting my puppy's stomach?
Answer by ChewyJul 18, 2018
Many pets enjoy eating more than one formula. To avoid digestive upset, we recommend limiting your rotation to two formulas and gradually mixing formulas over a couple of weeks. When you transition between formulas, slowly reduce the amount of the old formula and increase the new formula.

My picky pup like it

I went through two types of puppy food before I found this one. I finally found one he would eat! I was worried about problems with diarrhea since others mentioned it, but I haven’t had any problems at all. His poops are nice and normal on it. He has been on it for almost two months now. As a bonus, it contains probiotics so I don’t have to buy them separately as a supplement. That’s saves us a good amount, so if you are looking at the price, factor that in if you buy probiotic supplements.

Diarrhea and Stinky Puppy

Our 4 month old Rottweiler loves the food, but unfortunately his digestive system does not. He’s been on this for two weeks after the full transition from his other puppy food, and he has diarrhea constantly. We made a vet appointment Friday after talking to Chewy’s free vet, and our Vet said to try a different brand since everything else was perfect health wise. Also, he started to smell like urine. He doesn’t pee in his kennel, and doesn’t roll around in urine spots outside. This is the only change in his diet for the past two weeks, so there has to be a connection.

I really wanted my dog to like this food.

I researched so many reviews and sites where this is sold. It's definitely good quality etc.... My darn pup is so picky that he just wouldn't eat it. Since I bought this food, I've learned more about him as he is getting beyond puppy age.. he decides sometimes he doesn't like roast chicken, and other foods most dogs would knock you down to get at, so it's my dog and not this foods fault. This is a good price on Chewy... But I bought so much and am trying to use it up by making biscuits out of it at this point. Had to cancel the auto ship... For any other picky pup owners, I've found that my pup has worked me over to the point that I've bought the stella and chewy brand and he like that one...

Willow approves!

I bought this food for my nephew's puppy who basically went on a hunger strike with the brands they had been feeding. Now Willow anticipates and loves each meal and the stress over trying to get her to eat is gone. She is a happy, growing puppy once again!

do not buy

I bought one bag of dog food and everything was fine. Just received my second order on 4/8 and opened it on 4/11 and immediately place open food in my dog food container. My puppy has thrown this food up 3 times and it caused bad diarrhea. Had to throw away in the trash and get another food for my puppy.

Inconsistent Formula

We went through our first bag perfectly fine but when we got our 2nd order of the same food, I noticed the kibble was lighter in color than the last bag. I didn't think too much of it until my pup had really bad vomiting and diarrhea all night long. I felt so bad for the little guy. Would never buy it again unfortunately

did not settle good on my pups stomach. Aso being a small breed he had a rougher time chewing it. I ended up donating it to my vet clinic which is a shelter too

Doesn't Like Taste

Our vet had us switching food due to some blood testing results and gave us a different high end food to get us started and we choose to go with Taste of Wild as a more permanent replacement. Our pup devoured the vet provided food to the point we had to get a slow feeder. With Taste of the Wild food sits in her bowl almost all day. Each fog has their own taste though, ours just doesn't like it.

My dog LOVES this!

My fur baby Cookie has been eating this for the last 8 years. I've tried others but she is loyal to this food only.

Healthy puppy food that my dog loves

This family owned company makes excellent dog and puppy food! My husband and I have done tons of research on puppy food and this one was at the top of our list. Our puppy eats it up quickly.
