Features a submersible filter with a quiet, convenient, 3-stage filtration system—chemical, biological and mechanical.
Dual-sided Bio-Bag mesh that catches debris and fish waste with an activated carbon that absorbs odors and discoloration.
The bio-scrubber’s solid back allows the water to flow evenly over the bacteria-rich bristles for best performance.
Anti-clog design for convenient and easy maintenance also provided by the bio-scrubber.
3-10 gallon uses medium Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridges; 10-20 and 20-40 gallon uses large Whisper Bio-Bag Cartridges.
When cleaning the filter, unplug it. Do not use detergents or soap, as residues may harm fish.
Do not use sand in the aquarium when using the internal filter.
If the foam grid becomes clogged, remove and wash with water until debris is removed.
Replace filter cartridge every four weeks. To change the cartridge, unplug filter, remove and replace cartridge, and re-plug the filter.
If the motor is noisy, unplug the filter and remove it from aquarium. Remove the motor, open its cover, and flush gravel, leaves, or other debris with cool water. Replace the motor into the filter, mount the filter in the aquarium, and re-plug the unit.
It takes a few weeks for new aquarium water to be conditioned. You can use EasyBalanceTM to speed up conditioning. During the conditioning period, feed fish lightly and be sure all food is consumed.
When putting tap water into the aquarium, add AquaSafeTM water conditioner to neutralize harmful chlorine and chloramines.
Insert the filter cartridge and foam grid. (Note: the front of the foam grid is market "front" and should face the front of the internal filter.)
Hang the filter inside the aquarium and press the suction cup against the aquarium glass. Drape wire over the aquarium wall.
The lip of the internal filter should be above water level, and the bottom of the internal filter should be at least one inch above the aquarium gravel. When positioning plants and other items, leave approximately 1/2 inches of clearance around the filter.
Raise or lower the internal filter by adjusting the filter hanger. Rotate the filter hanger 90 degrees, remove it, and replace it in an alternate alignment hole. (In turtle tanks, the bottom of the internal filter should be submerged in at least 2 inches of water.)
If the filter hanger does not fit on the aquarium frame, it can be replaced with an extra suction cup (provided). When pressed firmly, the suction cup will fit snugly into the filter.
I have a 29G tank with 6 platys 1 betta fish 4 ghost shrimp I wanted to up my filtration and whisper fiters are usually my fav this one had such a hard current that the betta fish struggled to swim agianst it across the other side of the tank... I instantly knew it wasn't going to work out, or course you can use like waterbottles or soda cans to cushion the flow but if you have to put something that makes the tank look funny or weird it's not worth it otherwise I'm sure it's a good filter that works just too strong of a flow :/
Great in tank filter when space is not available for a canister filter
on Oct 26, 2018
I bought several to use where space is too tight. These require more frequent filter changes with turtles than a canister but changes are easy quick and cheap. Could use additional fasteners both suction and hanging clips as turtles want to move these things. Easily modified. I might buy a few more for future use. Chewy is great. I spend alot on my Trachemys scripta elegans.
Works Good But Not The Best

This filter is decent, the only problems I've had with it is that slime and algae tend to accumulate on it and make it kinda gross on the outside, it's easy to wipe off just yucky. It's a very quiet filter though and would work best with fish that don't produce a lot of waste.

The filter it's self is fantastic. Kinda big but really good. And whisper fits it. It's very silent.
HOWEVER a few things I wanna point out.
Well the suction cup that came with the filter was too small so I used a decorative item to hold it up and stold the suction cup from the thermometer I bought. And now it works just dandy.
But human error and a lack of care for customers kinda makes me a very displeased customer.
I'm lowering my star ratings because the lack of parts for the filter it's self.
It's very easy to correct a wrong sized suction cup people.

Can't hear a thing, this is really one of those filters for when they say its quiet THEY REALLY MEAN IT there is also no splash either.

I got two of these for my 75 gallon tank which contain A couple black Moore’s and a few other fancy goldfish. My water completely cleared up after running them in just 2 days. I have heard these tend to get loud but so far they are fairly quite. My air pump is louder than the filters.
Tank looks clear and new again!

It is bulky but simple to set into tank; the cord is in the center so if your top is clear glass just pull the edge piece out so it clears the cord. Works so much better than the old one!
Great filter, strong flow
on Jul 22, 2018
I love this filter it’s awesome, cleans the tank and gets the job done. But the flow is strong and pushes my fish, gravel , and decorations around the tank. So I had to clean and curve a soda can so the current didn’t push everything around, but it definitely does work.
Very nice filter

I really like this little filter. It is something I have been waiting for since I was a child. Very good design and does not take up too much space.
Quiet but too powerful
on Jul 13, 2018
I have a 3 gallon tank so I picked up this filter. Even though it says it’s for 3 gallons, it’s not. It’s too powerful and makes a current that’s too strong for my Betta to swim through. The suction cups they supply are too small for it so you have to call to order bigger ones. My fish got stuck behind the filter so I ended up going to a store to buy a smaller filter. It would be nice for a larger tank. They should really change the sizing.
