The Tetrafauna ReptoFilter for Frogs, Newts & Turtles provides crystal clear filtration for aquatic terrariums. It uses patented Whisper technology for silent operation as it moves the water through three stages of filtration. The removable filter cartridges catch organic debris and remove odors and discoloration from your tank. This filter works in as little as three inches of water, so it’s the ideal choice for the shallow pools found in turtle, newt and frog habitats. It’s also great for creating waterfalls. Simply attach the suction cups to a terrarium wall and cover the filter with decorative rocks or plants. The green color makes it easy to conceal, and the protective lid keeps reptiles out. The medium 90 GPH filter is effective in terrariums up to 20 gallons, and the large 125 GPH works for tanks up to 55 gallons.

Install the ReptoFilter on the back wall of your terrarium. Unlike conventional filters, its small size makes it easy to hide with a plant or other decorative object. From the front, it's practically invisible. To create a waterfall, camouflage the ReptoFilter with rocks.
Insert suction cups. When pressed firmly and twisted, the suction cups will fit snugly into the holes in the back of the ReptoFilter. If they don't go in easily, a small screwdriver can be used to gently guide the suction cups into the holes.
Insert the filter cartridge and foam grid. (Note: The front of the foam grid is marked "front" and should face the front of the filter.)
Insert ReptoFilter inside the aquarium and press the suction cups against the aquarium glass. Drape wire over the aquarium wall.
The lip of the ReptoFilter should be above water level, and the bottom of the filter should be submerged in at least two inches of water. When positioning plants and other items, take care to leave at least 1/2 inch clearance around the filter's intake area.
Attach ReptoFilter lid.

Is this submersible?
It can be placed lower in the tank with suction cups, but you generally do not want to submerge it.
I put it in a salamander tank and it stopped working within 8 hours. It seized up and doesn't make any noise at all when plugged in. I think the motor is bad. I have this exact same filter in a different tank with frogs and it has worked perfectly for over a year now. Maybe I got a dud?

Not only did this not remove any cloudiness but it made the entire water green!! The directions say to simply place in water which I did. I even did a water change but the next day it was very green again and even more cloudy.
Avoid this Item!!!

This item is noisy! It advertises whisper technology, but it's more like growling and noisy technology. What a disappointment. Now I am having to go through a convoluted replacement process. It's not worth the trouble. Avoid this product. I will get another filter system, but it will not be from this company. Frustrating...sigh....

Shelly A. is our baby RES. We need to move the filter up because it's stirring up the sand, but it works great!! We've only got a 10 gal tank right now, but tomorrow we are moving up to at least a 20 gal. This filter should grow with our turtle and her tanks for a while!
Not that good

The second day after I received this filter it broke and wouldn’t start working and I’m really bummed since it was the first filter I’ve gotten for my Turttle.
It was okay!

It was working good until i switched tanks after almost two months. I don’t know if it was something I did or not.

This filter does not work at all, I have tried everything from changing the water level, changing the filter, anything. It makes the water smell awful after about a day. Maybe i’m doing something wrong, even when I reached out to the company I did everything they’ve asked. The only good cool thing was the waterfall & I was really excited about it.
First one did not work :(

Yikes: Not So Good

The filter runs okay for a while, but I find they break very easily. The motor often stops running, much like most tetra filters.
first one didn’t work

The first one I got didn’t work, when I let them know they sent a replacement and it works perfectly for my two baby turtles, though it’s a bit hard getting the suction cups back in after coming out so I have the filter sitting on their rock slightly until I figure out how to get them back in
