Description

The Tetrafauna ReptoFilter for Frogs, Newts & Turtles provides crystal clear filtration for aquatic terrariums. It uses patented Whisper technology for silent operation as it moves the water through three stages of filtration. The removable filter cartridges catch organic debris and remove odors and discoloration from your tank. This filter works in as little as three inches of water, so it’s the ideal choice for the shallow pools found in turtle, newt and frog habitats. It’s also great for creating waterfalls. Simply attach the suction cups to a terrarium wall and cover the filter with decorative rocks or plants. The green color makes it easy to conceal, and the protective lid keeps reptiles out. The medium 90 GPH filter is effective in terrariums up to 20 gallons, and the large 125 GPH works for tanks up to 55 gallons.

Instructions
  • Install the ReptoFilter on the back wall of your terrarium. Unlike conventional filters, its small size makes it easy to hide with a plant or other decorative object. From the front, it's practically invisible. To create a waterfall, camouflage the ReptoFilter with rocks.
  • Insert suction cups. When pressed firmly and twisted, the suction cups will fit snugly into the holes in the back of the ReptoFilter. If they don't go in easily, a small screwdriver can be used to gently guide the suction cups into the holes.
  • Insert the filter cartridge and foam grid. (Note: The front of the foam grid is marked "front" and should face the front of the filter.)
  • Insert ReptoFilter inside the aquarium and press the suction cups against the aquarium glass. Drape wire over the aquarium wall.
  • The lip of the ReptoFilter should be above water level, and the bottom of the filter should be submerged in at least two inches of water. When positioning plants and other items, take care to leave at least 1/2 inch clearance around the filter's intake area.
  • Attach ReptoFilter lid.

FAQ

Is this submersible?

It can be placed lower in the tank with suction cups, but you generally do not want to submerge it.

  • Very quiet and easy to install

    By on

The water filter works good for my 40 gallon turtle tank. It is very quiet and it was easy to install. The only complaint is the lid of the filter doesn't stay on so it usually ends up in the tank floating around with my turtle! So my advice would be to make it fit better and stay on! Other than that no known issues thanks.

This is the second time I've purchased this filter but the first time I've purchased at Chewy. So convenient and affordable. I love it. It does the job for my little turtles tank.

  • Does some job, but not as expected.

It is Okay. But. 1. I have to feed my turtle in a separate bowl because the filter does not pick up any food leftovers from the bottom of the aquarium. 2. It rotates water locally, right where it is standing. We have 15 gallon size aquarium filled just enough to cover the openings in the filter for suction - it's only about 4 inches high. Not too much water to filter, and according to the description it should rotate water much faster and more powerfully than what I see. 3. It is impossible to feed turtle in the aquarium with the filter on: the food from the water surface is being sucked into the filter right away. Had to replace the first filter and clean the tank the very next day, because It is Okay. But. 1. It gives me a feeling the the pomp is installed upside down :) But Turtle plays with bubbles and enjoys the waterfall tickling his back. Fun to watch. Water stays clear if you do not put any food in the tank. … more

  • Upset with the suction

    By on

I've had this filter for a month, and when I tried cleaning the filter today the suction cups came out and they will not go back in. I can't properly have the filter in the tank because it is supposed to be a half an inch from the bottom of the tank but now I have to rest it on the bottom. Also when I first put the filter in a month ago, It wouldn't stay where I originally placed it. It slowly dropped down all on its on. Words cannot describe how frustrated I am with the most simplest part of this product that shouldn't even be giving me a problem. However, the filtration itself is okay.

I've used 3 different types of filters and I still end up Cleaning the tank once a week instead of once a month... I have 1 turtle that is a musk turtle... I'm sure the filter is doing it's job but my turtle just must be messy

  • Filter for turtles

Only problem is that our turtles have climbed on it several times, and knocked it over. Suction cups won't keep it stuck to the glass. I will have to find another way to keep them off of it.
