The video states there is lavender essential oils in the spray. I have read that although it has a calming effect lavender is toxic and can cause irritation to some dogs. Has anyone had any problems with the lavender in the spray?

Answer by TerryAug 01, 2024
The list of ingredients for this product is Analogue of Dog Pheromone - 2%, Isopropanol - 60mL; yes I also heard lavender in the video that isn’t what the description says.

Is this safe for cats in the house?

What is the difference between Thunderspray and ThunderEssence?

Answer by ChewyMar 30, 2018
This Spray is intended to be sprayed in the area the pet will be or onto the Thundershirt patch itself however, the ThunderEssence Dog Calming Drops are pH balanced and you may place drops on your dog's body, bed, blankets or Thundershirt to help him stay calm around the home, for veterinarian visits, during car and air travel, kennel stays, and more.

Is this good for fireworks too

Answer by ChewyMar 01, 2018
It works great for any anxieties your dog may have, including vet visits, crating, car travel, fear of thunder, fear of fireworks, pet and owner separation, reactivity to other animals or people, or general fearfulness.

I was hoping it will help him calm down when we're in the car. However, after trying several times (following the instructions for use) first just sitting in the car, then with running engine and then just driving a couple of feet (!) it did not show any improvements in his behavior he was still very anxious and did not calm down at all unfortunately.

Calming spray

Jury is out on the efficacy, as they were wearing their thunder shirts which chilled them out just fine without the spray. I think it helped, but I cant be sure

Ok but not great

This helped to calm our dog down slightly but not much. We also used the diffuser and didn’t see much benefit to that either. I probably will not purchase this

I was really hoping this calming spray would be helpful but I haven't been able to use it. Spraying it leaves a bad rubbing alcohol smell that I don't think would be good for my dogs. By the time the alcohold smell wears off the active ingredient I'm sure also has.

No odor except a light isopropyl alcohol smell while drying.

My rescue dog (caged, breeder, terrified of her own shadow) approx 4yo bully seems to be a bit better with the spray, diffuser and collar. She's been started on a SSRI along with these measures. Can not use thunder shirt because of the velcro! It just about scared the life out of her!

My senior doggie loves when I get home from work. We have our routine. He would jump then down on the chair constantly. That drove me crazy, so I bought it thinking it may help calm him down. I sprayed the living room, my chair and his blanket . We would go out to pee and come back in. I went to change clothes and get ready for TV watching he was calm. Jumped up and laid on my lap. I couldn't believe it. I thought it was a fluke. I tried it the next night same calm dog. I tried it a third night the same thing. I was convinced that it truly worked. I bought 3 additional spray bottles. I gave one to my best friend. She has 2 dogs she tried it for 3 or 4 days. She couldn't believe how well it works. I highly recommend this product.

Works well

Once dried this spray seems to be calming to our puppy. My only issue is the strong alcohol smell when first applied.
