is laxatone a rubberlike consistency ? - a stiff gel ? I put it on my finger and it is hard to rub off- very sticky-- I have Tomlyn brand - just opened but has been in my pantry for a couple years=

Answer by ChewyDec 20, 2018
The molasses can give the gel a rubbery like texture. The expiration date is typically 2 years from the date of manufacture. The expiration date is stamped on the crimped end of the tube.

Do you find that finicky cats tend to like or love the catnip flavored hairball medicine?

This smooth easy-to-use gel is designed for the prevention and removal of hairballs in cats and kittens.

Does the catnip flavored gel give cats the same effect as regular catnip would?

Answer by ChewyJun 10, 2024
There is no catnip in the Laxatone and only contains a flavoring. It will not have the same effect as the catnip formula.

How easy it is to administer to my cats

I put a small amount on my fingertip for each cat, & it's licked completely off! They like the taste, & it helps with hairballs & also when they use the litter

Mixed opinion

My cats didn’t really like it but it did help with their hairball issues. I just had to dab some on their noses to get them to lick it off.

My cat seems better

I placed this product directly in my cat's mouth. She swallowed it and so far, so good. No more hairballs.

The goal and true success with anything that you get for your cat is if they will actually eat it and/ or use it... My cat, Jack, had a favored hairball gel of a different brand, that the formula was changed and he no longer would eat it... I have tried four other kinds, and this is the only other one he will eat... The consistency of this is thick, but not too sticky and he is able to lick it off my hand. I purchased the catnip flavor. I don't know if it is the catnip flavor or the actual consistency of the product, but he loves it.
