If you’re thinking about getting this, get it! This thing is loved by all 4 of my cats. We have two kittens who use it as a jungle gym. I’m talking flying leaps, standing on the top, jumping off, this thing is sturdy! It’s holding up really well too, considering the kittens use it daily. And it looks nicer than a standard post.

This is a starter scratching post for our cat, I didn't want to spend a lot of money in case he had no interest. He likes swatting the little puffballs, and it's a cute item... There is definitely a gap where the posts screw together, but it's a lot more fun to look at than most! He's a pretty big guy and I likely should have chosen a taller post but he still likes to go at it, and it is really stable. I do think he is scratching the couch less...which is the whole point.
