Questions & Answers

Our dog (part Jack Russell terrier) is almost finished with the first jar of Glandex. He is still scooting. Is there something else or should I try another jar of Glandex?
Answer by ChewyApr 14, 2018
On average the majority of pets see results within 3 - 5 weeks or less when using Glandex regularly. Typically the more severe your pet's anal gland problems are the longer it may take to see results and some pets may require up to 2 - 3 months of regular usage to achieve optimal results.

Have been using this sucessfully for a few months now but wondering how long to continue..is this product intended for long term use?
Answer by ChewyJan 09, 2018
Most pets with chronic anal gland issues will need to use Glandex on a regular ongoing basis in order to keep their anal glands healthy and prevent future problems. If your pet is only having a temporary anal gland issues then once results are achieved it is okay to discontinue Glandex usage.

Does this contain omega 3 fatty acids and prebiotics?
Answer by ChewySep 17, 2020
This supplement features omega fatty acids and other key ingredients that support pets with seasonal allergies and a healthy inflammatory response. It also contains probiotics, prebiotics, & digestive enzymes support healthy digestion & immunity.

I forgot to put these in the refrigerator after opening. Are these still okay to give to my dog?
Answer by ChewyMay 04, 2020
These chews do not require refrigeration but should be kept in a cool, dry place. For best results, it is recommended to refrigerate after opening.

Works too well?

My dog struggles to empty his glands on his own. The vet recommended these to try to save us from having to get his glands expressed every 4-6 weeks. Well…now he’s secreting on his own…but all over the house. It is not happening when he poops like we had hoped, but rather just whenever he wants. On the couch, on the bed, on the floor, everywhere. We tried decreasing his dose and the frequency we gave them to him, but he’s still secreting everywhere all of the time. It’s only been a couple weeks so I’m not giving up yet, but our house reeks of stinky fish smell at least once a day. I’m going to try taking him to get his glands professionally expressed one more time to see if maybe all this leakage is a result of some sort of backup, but if that doesn’t fix it, these treats are going in the trash.

Worked for Scooting and Over Expressive Gland

I was looking for a product to help our Pit. He was expressing in the house several times a week and scooting his booty on the carpet a lot. I did some research, and after reading reviews, decided to give these a try. He has been taking the Glandex for about 2 months and has only expressed once since. The scooting has also stopped. I would highly recommend giving these a try if your dog seems to have an expressive gland.

IF I COULD RATE THIS 10 STARS I WOULD

In just one day I noticed a huge difference. We leave our doggos in a crate while at work. I I came home after the first day and didn't smell my dog's anal glands for the first time in forever! I didn't think it could work that soon but turns out it is. I've been giving one a day to my German shorthaired pointer and have yet to smell her anal glands or notice her chewing in that area. I love love love love love love love love love love love love love this product. I had basically given up help with my dog's anal gland problems. The vet kept saying to get them expressed and change her dog food and that did nothing. This is the only thing I found that works.

Butt Medicine!

Abby is a Dalmatian… she ruptured both Anal glands within 2 months time. The vet bills…. We all know how that can drain the pocket. Our vet recommended this for her. It has helped her tremendously. I noticed she had more solid stools. She isn’t scooting anymore and we turn it into one of her treats during the day. We call it her Butt Medicine. And since I keep it in the refrigerator she knows exactly what she is getting! I highly recommend. I read other posts and seen that others weren’t quite as happy. That’s ok. All dogs are different. I would suggest at least giving this a try. My dog has done great. She is a 62lb Dalmatian and I give her two treats a day, and the dose seems perfect for her. Good luck to all!

Not for my dog

Made my dog’s stomach upset. Increased gas. Was defecating 4 times a day. Consistency of stools was mixed. Sometimes firm sometimes soft, even at the same time. She never eats grass but started eating it because I think this upset her stomach. She seemed really miserable. The dried pumpkin chews work great but Chewy is routinely out of this product so I tried something new. No problem getting her to eat the product, but she’s not picky. Waste of money.

Fixed the problem

This supplement worked wonders for my pups sore booty. He was boot scootin and licking so often that his hiney hole was getting red and enflamed. The vet expressed him and recommended this product. I can’t believe what a turn around this has caused for him. I give it to both dogs now and will continue to do so.

They do work!

My dog has terrible stomach problems. My vet recommended these. They work but I have a hard time time getting my dog to accept them. They smell like peanut butter fudge..

Just didn't work for my dog

My dog loved the taste but after a week, and I fed by the instructions and actually went a bit longer due to wanting to make sure I didn't constipate him, but into the end of the second week he was constipated/straining and was starting to not eat his food. I took him off and within a few days he was going back to normal. Not saying anything is wrong with the product, by the reviews there are a lot of dogs this works for, just not mine.
