Is this product put into the water bowl, or do you need to put it in the dog's mouth directly
Answer by ChewyAug 30, 2017
This rinse must be applied directly to the mouth. Gently lift the upper lip to expose the teeth and gums. Point and squeeze to apply a gentle stream along the gum line. Dentahex Oral Rinse disperses rapidly and completely covers the entire oral cavity, even difficult to reach areas. Avoid touching the gum with the applicator tip to avoid any injury in case of movement of your pet.

Will this product remove my years of tartar build up? And help with any possible gum disease I might have? I am an onry old chihuahua that won't let human's near with toenails and teeth without being totally sedated. Thanks Poncho.
Answer by ChewyNov 12, 2017
This rinse is made to prevent tooth and gum disease by providing a dental care routine. If you think your pet may have gum disease, a vet visit is recommended.

Why does this say hazardous to humans and all animals but then it safe for dogs and cats?
Answer by ChewyMay 01, 2019
When used on humans, or over the recommended dose for cats and dogs, the Chlorhexidine Gluconate in this formula can cause nausea.

Is it safe of a dog swallows?
Answer by ChewyJul 09, 2018

game changer

So, i felt very helpless when i got my kitten in December. He had plaque build up and his gums were bright red. I was told he had gingivitis from the shelter i got him from and it was a matter of time before he needed ALL of his teeth pulled. Granted he is a KITTEN, so i instantly brought him to a different vet. They recommended this, said if it helps he will be as good as new. I stick a cotton swab in the bottle, let it get soaked and then i brush it along his top and button gum line. Within a WEEK his teeth were whiter, plaque is gone and his gums are not red. I am so happy with this product i would recommend it to anyone.

Kind of misleading..

I was so excited to get this because my cat just had dental surgery and then I have another cat who has stomatitis so I thought this would be a win. Nowhere online does it mention mint flavoring which is why I chose this rinse and sadly I did not dig into the reviews enough to see the reviews that did mention it. The smell is very strong, my cats do not tolerate this well and the applicator is not the best for a clean mess free aim. I’ll still give it more time to see if it’s worth the pain considering nothing with cats is easy but still upset about the mint. Terrible idea on their part- no animal will like that. They should know that working with animals.

This works.

I purchased this product, used a small amount on my Jack russell, his breath was great for hours after. It worked so good I wound up giving my bottle to my Mom,& purchased myself another one so she could see how great it works on her chihuahua.

A Wonder Treatment

This stuff is 100% great! Our rescue (we got her in 2016) cat had congenital dental issues (Siamese, what can I say). This was to the point of needing extraction of her incisors. It was obvious that the oral pain was too much for her, even to eat sometimes. Pre-surgery, her vet recommended the Dentahex as part of the treatment to cut the inflammation so the vet could save what teeth she could. We used it and within days the red gums and staggering halitosis were gone and her disposition perked up to "playful" and "loving". However, the inflammation was too far gone to save the incisors, (the molars and canines survived). We keep an eye on the gums and teeth (as well as regular checkups) and when we see red, we "brush" with a Q-tip and Dentahex.

Multiple Cats Hated

My vet suggested a dental rinse for one specific cat, but the cat reacted badly. Instead of giving a negative review, I tried it with three others and got the same negative reaction.

Made cleaning easier

I felt good about using this product. I felt that it loosened light calcification and cleaned up the gums as I scraped. The dogs accepted the rinse without resistance.

I'm not so sure, I have only used once. Not all cats could tolerate the taste. Will use regularly to verify.

good in theory but dog HATES taste

While this seems to help my dog, she absolutely HATES the taste. This is not palatable to dogs. It smells nice but mine does not tolerate it. Squirting it in her mouth is out of the question as she becomes fearful as soon as she sees the bottle. I tried on the petsmile (great toothpaste btw she loved it) qtips. She resists as soon as she sees those now as she associates it with the terrible taste. It smells very strong. I wanted to like this product, but I will have to find one she will tolerate the taste of in order to make teeth cleaning a fun experience. She is starting to not want me to brush her teeth anymore because she knows I will use this rinse. Prior to using this, she enjoyed getting her teeth brushed as she loves the taste.

Swollen sore lip

I was recommended this rinse - by Chewy’s online vet-as my dog had stomatitis ( sore lip) we think from over zealous chewing. It has a pleasant smell of mint and is easy to squirt around the teeth. This, and some people lip salve, have cured the problem.
