Is this Maple Flavor?? The Viralys we've been using is maple flavor and they love it. Don't want to take a chance with a change. Thank you.

Answer by ChewyFeb 27, 2018
This gel is Maple Flavor.

Does viralys lose its effectiveness after expiration date?

Answer by ChewyDec 12, 2019
We recommend using the oral gel prior to expiring for the safety of your pet.

Can I add the gel formula to my cats food? If so does it diminish the potency of it?

Answer by ChewyJun 04, 2019
This gel can be added to the cat's food, administered directly into their mouth, or smeared on their paw so they lick it off.

Answer by ChewyDec 19, 2018
L-Lysine powder can be safely administered with no known side effects for as long as required.

I have had several cats who needed L-Lysine supplements. Some were willing to take the supplement in powdered form mixed into wet foods, but administering a complete dose always was subject to whether or not they felt hungry enough or happy enough with the selected flavor du jour to finish eating the portion I had given them. The Viralys gel is easy to administer, and I know I have given a full dose. If my cat does not want to lick the complete dose off my finger, I gently can place the gel just behind her upper incisors for her to complete the dose.

So my one cat has had the virus that has affected his respiratory system since birrh. My vet has told me he would need to be on lysine for life to help prevent flareups. He used to eat the treats..then he started refusinf aftwr a few years. i tried different brands. Nope. He has had a flareup for awhile. Sneezeing, snotty. I didnt know the gel was available till recently. This cat eats anything except for this. However i mix it in his wet food in the morning and he eats it right up. Hes only been taking it like 5 days but it has helped him so quick, i feel bad i didnt find this sooner.

It smells terrible

Who thought that maple would be a good flavor that would appeal to cats?? Maple! The cat hates it. It does seem to have helped a little with his chest congestion

Who thought that maple would be a good flavor that would appeal to cats?? Maple! The cat hates it. It does seem to have helped a little with his chest congestion but now he avoids me because he doesn’t want me to give him that awful stinky stuff near him again. This is as good as science can do for cats? I’m looking for something that will not make my cat think that I am poisoning him.

The vet prescribed this as a supplement when my cat had an upper respiratory infection. It will NOT treat an infection. I use this if they start sneezing or watery eyes. It is just a supplement but really seems to help. 3-5 days usually. I keep a tube on hand.

Our rescue kitten had really bad upper respiratory infection that required two rounds of steroids. Our vet prescribed a lysine supplement and recommended we continue to keep her healthy and it absolutely makes a difference. If she doesn’t get it everyday, she is susceptible to illness and that is not some we are willing to risk (not to mention the vet costs we’re avoiding with the proactive treatments).

Keeps the cat healthy

Sunny was put onto this supplement when he a few months old, it has kept his eyes and nose clean ever since. He usual uses the powder but he has to have the gel

Sunny was put onto this supplement when he a few months old, it has kept his eyes and nose clean ever since. He usual uses the powder but he has to have the gel due to his newly developed allergy of chicken. The powder works well but due to it having chicken flavoring he can't have it so this is also great for cats who can't have any chicken. You can also mix it with their wet food if the cat doesn't want to eat it by itself.

Helps with sniffles

Vet prescribes 1/8 tsp twice a day. Alit smaller than what I read ... but it is doing the trick. She said to continue indefinitely Hope that's OK
