Renal Essentials Feline Bite-Sized Chews help maintain proper kidney function by supporting renal circulation, normal fluid retention, detoxification, stress management, homocysteine balance, and kidney and liver function. The inclusion of astragalus root powder supports kidney circulation and immune function, while the Chinese herb rehmannia supports kidney and liver function, and is known as the kidney’s own food.
Other ingredients like vitamins B1 and B2 support metabolic activity, including the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, supporting proper energy production. Folic acid, DMG, B12 and B6 help support methylation and sulfuration pathways, while minerals like potassium are important for water balance. B vitamins are water soluble and not properly recycled during times of kidney stress or dysfunction; therefore, supplementation may be required.

My cat is doing much better
By Jeri on Oct 3, 2020
My cat was throwing up often and getting very skinny. He doesn't much care for the taste of these but I smash them up and put them in his wet food and he gobbles it down. Since I started him on these a little over 2 months he stopped throwing up and is putting weight back on. Try them, they helped my cat!

senior cat likes them
By kittyl on Sep 19, 2020 Top 250 Contributor
trying everything available for my cat with kidney disease. this is now in her regimen even though some of the ingredients (e.g. grain) aren't really healthy for cats. hopefully the beneficial ingredients outweigh any effects of the questionable ones. my cat looks forward to having these every night at bedtime. they smell like vitamins but she doesn't mind. and she is a very picky cat

Love this product and so does my cat!
By CatMomma3 on Aug 24, 2020
My Cat was near death's door when she suddenly rallied. The Vet put her on special food but the amount of food she needed to get her healthy was more than she could eat. I asked the vet if there was a supplement that she could take and she recommended VetriScience but said some cats don't like it. My cat loves it and gobbles it up happily. She is now back to normal health.

Apparently tasty but effective?
By Mrsright on Aug 10, 2020
Nathan loves these. He has very beginning stage renal disease. He is on a phosphorus blocker and these treats are his reward for taking the blocker. I ran the ingredient label by my vet, she said to go ahead. So, I can't say these work, as they are only a component of the plan. But they do contain vitamin E and a fish oil component, which she recommended along with a low phosphorus food. I wish I could be more helpful.

RENAL ESSENTIALS CHEWS
By catamom on Aug 28, 2020
My wish is that these were a bit smaller and smelled better. I have two cats that need to take them. One of them eats them readily, but the other one won't touch them unless I chop them up into tiny bits and cover them with some sort of broth. Hopefully, they are doing what they are supposed to do.

Seems okay?
By Zooey on Aug 21, 2020
My cat won't eat these on his own, but sometimes I make him eat one when I pill him. I can't tell if they are helping or not? But since my cat has CKD and often does not eat enough, I guess it makes me feel better to have him eat them.

My cat won’t eat them.
By CatMom on May 16, 2020
I received my order in a timely fashion, as always when I order from Chewy. My veterinarian had suggested I give my aging cat Renal Essentials since his kidneys have a degree of failure at this point. Unfortunately , my cat will not eat them, even if I cut them in to tiny pieces and mix with wet food. The recommended dose is 4 chew tabs per day and I just don’t see that happening with him. So, not a great review on the product but a very good review for Chewy for getting the order out quickly.

These work!
By Chelsea on May 11, 2020
My 11+year old picky girl was diagnosed with renal failure and her values were only getting worse when I decided to give these a try. She now gobbles them up every morning and her bloodwork has been improving every 3 months. These were out of stock for a bit and her energy decreased and she started vomiting more, which made me realize how well these vitamins work for her.

By Meezermom on May 18, 2020
My 17 year old cat who was just recently diagnosed with Kidney Disease and who will hardly eat anything (forget prescription diets - immediately walks away from it), absolutely loves these. She's happy, I'm happy. We've got a winner.
