Description

Renal Essentials Feline Bite-Sized Chews help maintain proper kidney function by supporting renal circulation, normal fluid retention, detoxification, stress management, homocysteine balance, and kidney and liver function. The inclusion of astragalus root powder supports kidney circulation and immune function, while the Chinese herb rehmannia supports kidney and liver function, and is known as the kidney’s own food.

Other ingredients like vitamins B1 and B2 support metabolic activity, including the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates, supporting proper energy production. Folic acid, DMG, B12 and B6 help support methylation and sulfuration pathways, while minerals like potassium are important for water balance. B vitamins are water soluble and not properly recycled during times of kidney stress or dysfunction; therefore, supplementation may be required.

Another excellent product from Vetri Science!

    By on

After her blood creatinine level tested elevated, I started my 13-year-old kitty on Vetri Science Renal Essential chewable treats. I break them up into little pieces since her teeth aren't that great (she had to have one extracted last year.) She'd literally rather starve then eat something she doesn't like, but she gobbles these chews up every time. The flavor may be familiar to her since she happily used to eat Vetri Science UT Strength as a preventative (a great product) for years after going through dietary therapy to dissolve a bladder stone. With the renal essentials, she seems to be feeling better, needs less sub-q fluids, and her appetite has improved. Happy to have this supplement for adjunct therapy

    By on

My 7 year old calico girl had renal abnormalities on labwork last year. She was started on a renal diet, and we give this supplement a few times per day as a treat. She seems to like the taste, and continues to eat these (it's been over a year). While there is limited literature supporting the Chinese herbal ingredients listed in this product, I'm happy to know that I'm potentially giving her some extra kidney support in conjunction with traditional therapy. I've been pleased with the quality of VetriScience products, and the pricing is reasonable. I recommend trying this product if your cat likes the taste!

Grand kitty and feral Cats love em

    By on

I have used Vetri Science Lysine for cat health for several years and the cats love them. I thought I would give the renal care a try, I was leary after reading so many reviews, cat didn't like and too hard to chew. I found these chews soft and the grand kitty and ferals gobble them up.

    Snacks for Real Cats

    By on

I have two cats with elevated SDMA, so they are considered very early with regard to renal. However, already I see changes in their energy level, their coat. I just wish it came in a larger bag.

    Kitty won't eat chicken :-(

    By on

My vet wanted me to use this supplement for my kitty with kidney failure. When I got the food, my cat would ONLY eat the ocean fish tuna.......hates chicken, gets sick. I tried buying tuna in oil to soak the supplements in for tuna flavor however my kitty licked all the juice and left the supplement. She seems to get sick from chicken. IF your kitty likes chicken then use this. They are a great size for kitties. My vet first gave me HUGE ones for cats and dogs but kitties need smaller treat sized ones. WISH WE HAD A OCEANFISH/TUNA OPTION. I do want my kitty to have these supplements for her kidney problems :-(

    Unpalatable

These are hard, tasteless, pseudo treats...I know cats with renal disease need diet changes but these are just not worth it.... Gypsy has finally decided to eat the renal food but these petrified treats were a waste of money!

    Too tough to chew

    By on

The treats are too tough for the cat to chew. She was biting her tongue trying to work it in her mouth. We cut it up into smaller pieces.
