Questions & Answers

21 Customer Questions

what is the difference between the hextra and the enzymatic?

Answer by ChewyApr 21, 2022
C.E.T. Enzymatic Oral Hygiene Chews feature an exclusive Dual-Enzyme System, plus a coarse texture that works with the dog’s chewing action to reduce plaque and calculus. C.E.T. HEXTRA Premium Chews are made using the unique and proprietary binding-releasing system to ensure maximal release of chlorhexidine, which helps reduce plaque and calculus. Activity resulting from chlorhexidine release may be evident for up to 24 hours.

May be silly, but are these intended to be swallowed once chewed? I read some unfavorable feedback that they get too soft and the dog swallows the chew. I use these sparingly with my 15lb dog, but I don’t take it away - I let him chew it up and eat it. Is this wrong?

Answer by ChewyApr 20, 2020
These chews are edible. The oral hygiene benefit can only be achieved by adequate chewing action. Gulping whole chews will reduce the chew's efficacy. Ensure your dog receives the right-sized product for their body weight and limit giving the chews to times when you are able to observe your dog.

Are these made in the USA??

Answer by ChewyMar 30, 2020
These dental chews are made in Mexico.

Are these chews a choking risk?

Answer by ChewyMay 03, 2020
As with any treat or food, there is potential for a choking concern. We always recommend supervision during any time your pet is eating.

Need to be stronger

I grabbed the smallest and largest size for my chihuahua and Great Dane. The chihuahua snaps it quickly and ends up eating the entire thing, defeating the purpose

I grabbed the smallest and largest size for my chihuahua and Great Dane. The chihuahua snaps it quickly and ends up eating the entire thing, defeating the purpose of chewing it. My big dog also snaps it in half with ease and ends up almost choking every time. I think they should be thicker or something to avoid them being quickly snapped.

Wall -E loves these

These are the perfect treat to give to our Wall -E who is prone to tartar and plaque. Between teeth cleanings at the vet, these do help

My dogs would not eat these.

Interestingly, enough, my mom‘s cat was interested in chewing on them but my dogs kept trying to burry them with their noses.

Same as vets

I purchased these at the vets office for another Pomeranian years ago. They used to be rolled, not flat. I gave these to my 2 (2 1/2 year old) Poms and one threw it up. It was in chunks, so probably eaten too quickly. I wish they were still the small rolled, since they can’t be eaten as quickly. I’m sure they’re fine for dogs who don’t eat them in chunks. They did keep my other poms teeth clean years ago.

Our dogs love them and they're great for dental health.

The small chews are a great treat for large dogs, too. We don't always want to give them the larger chews.

Cannot get my dog to show any interest in these

It can't clean the teeth if the dog won't touch them. I even tried smearing them with PB. Still won't touch them! Waste of money. =(
