My dog Honey has been on this food for a little over a week. So far it's been good. We had to change dog food because she kept having diarrhea and after 2 cycles of Flagyl and a diet of chicken and rice. They second time we put her back on her regular dog food, she again began having diarrhea. The vet said it she continues to change her food. She is 13 and was on Wellness senior food for a few years but it began bothering her stomach. So we switched to Wellness digestive health. I hope she continues to do well on it. She really likes it too which is a bonus.
While one of my dogs is doing well on this food the other has broken out into a rash. I’ll continue to feed for the one that is ok but won’t reorder again once it’s gone. Prior to this the one had no issues at all with skin problems and this is the only thing different introduced into his diet and we’ve been home in his normal surroundings so no other explanation than the food.
Our 12 year old basset hound started having indigestion issues about a year ago. He was having almost constant wet burps and throwing up his food 2-3 times a week. We took him to the vet thinking it was something terrible, but turns out he is just old and has developed a sensitive digestion tract. The vet started him on Science Diet Sensitive Stomach and Skin, which worked ehh OK for his indigestion, but after about 6 months we decided to try to transition him to Wellness Core Digestion Health Age Advantage. Not only does he seem to like this food better and it works just as well for his indigestion, but within about a week of transitioning him, he was racing around and acting like a puppy. No wet burps, no throwing up, AND basset zoomies? Huge win :)
After hearing from my vet about some potential cardiac risks to a grain-free diet, I looked for alternatives to supplement a prescription dry food (urinary diet) recommended for both our senior girls. They have always eaten Wellness and the switch occurred approximately one month ago and all has been good thus far.
Wellness Core Digestive Age Advantage is quality food that our 8 year old loves. A cup mixed with water for moisture and he gobbles it right up. Noticed a better mood with a pep in his step.
I switched my senior Pom to this food about a month ago. Since switching, I have noticed a considerable improvement in his energy, playfulness, and activity levels. I thought he was starting to slow down in life, but now he’s doing great and even playing fetch every now and then again. So happy that I found this food for him!!
In short: I HIGHLY recommend this food for possible picky senior eaters! My senior corgi-mix went through a period of turning her nose up at her old food. When she would eat, she hardly chewed her food (it was almost as though she would force feed herself because she WAS hungry). Her bowel movements had become unpredictable and were of poor consistency. Her weight also dropped to a scary all time low. This food has been such a lifeline! She actually chews the kibble and licks her bowl clean. I fed a slightly higher amount to help with weight gain. Her bowel movements are regular and a healthy consistency for the first time in months! She’s also doing happy taps when it’s time to eat, barking at me to get her food down faster - I haven’t seen her do that in MONTHS! My 14 year old girl is acting like she’s 7 again, and I can contribute a large part of that to this food!
My senior girl took this food right away. I will now put my 2 year old on the adult version
This food is perfect from my 13 y/o shelter adoption female Yorkiepoo. I am sure she is getting the everything she needs to keep her acting like a little puppy!
