Transition Instructions

The best way to transition your pet onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet (starting by mixing 90% old with 10% new and increase new by 10% each day until the bowl is full of only Wellness). Mixing the food will allow your pet to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food.

When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition:

Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it. Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin.

    Great for Seniors

    By on

I have 3 senior dogs and recently saw the notification from the FDA and the veterinarians at UC Davis regarding grain free diets not having enough Taurine for dogs hearts. Knowing one of my senior dogs has an enlarged heart I was very concerned. I switched from another top rated food to this one because it has added Taurine. They love the taste and have not skipped a beat as far as their palates or stools so I am very happy.

    my senior dog

    By on

I've been looking for a high grade dog food that's geared for my senior Golden Retriever. The reason I chose this dog food was for it's taurine content. Some Golden Retrievers are susceptible to congested heart failure when they eat grain free dog foods because of the lack of or reduced amounts of the amino acid L-Taurine. She just started this dog food, so we'll see. Thanks Chewy for the quick service.

Love CORE, but this one was ok

    By on

I have 2 beagles, ages 6 and 13. I normally alternate flavors of the regular Wellness Core. I tried this one for my 13-year old beagle and he snubbed it. He eats it, but he does leave a lot behind then tries to take the other dogs food. Now I've been blending in the last I have with Wild Game flavor. Won't be re-ordering.

    so far so good!

    By on

It's too early to tell since he's only been on it for a couple weeks. My Shih-Tzu is eating the food, but I don't know if it is helping his allergies. This grain-free might be helping him from chewing himself, but if he walks in fresh cut grass, he seems to chew like crazy. I'm sure every bit helps when it comes to allergies. Might help other breeds.

    Old girls enjoy it.

    By on

We have 12 yr and 11 yr old vizslas, and they have been on grain free food for their entire lives and recently switched to this food. Flavor is savory and they seem to like it. I usually mix in a small amount of wet food (also grain free) or cooked & finely chopped meats.

    Love this food

    By on

Sarah is 11 1/2 years old. She has been a different dog ever since she started taking this food! She is more active, wags her tail, loving her walks again and is in the lead again. She is not lagging behind anymore.

    My dogs love this food

    By on

My two senior dogs are picky eaters but not when it comes to this food! I love it for them because it has been good for them. Lower quality brand dog foods used to make their poop super runny and gross, plus impossible to clean up but this particular brand has helped with that and I no longer have to deal with gross, mushy poop. Also seems to be good for their coats, they aren't as oily as they were and my 50 lb has finally stopped itching and scratching herself. Overall, I will continue to purchase this for as long as it's available. 5 stars!

    Easy on the stomach

    By on

Our precious girl had always had stomach issues until we found Wellness Core. Now she rarely vomits after a meal (used to be nearly daily). She enjoys the food very much.

    My dog loves it

    By on

My girl just turned 7 last month and the vet recommended her to go on senior food. I got this in the hopes she’d eat it (she’s very picky) and she loves it! Wellness never lets me down.
