The best way to transition your pet onto a new food is to gradually introduce the food by mixing it with the old diet (starting by mixing 90% old with 10% new and increase new by 10% each day until the bowl is full of only Wellness). Mixing the food will allow your pet to acclimate to the new taste and not overindulge on the new food.
When food transition is not an option, there are a few ways to ensure a good transition:
Feed multiple, smaller volume meals. This will decrease the likelihood of over-consumption and provide for a more consistent, firm stool. Add clean warm water to the food to help soften it. Add a digestive aid such a boiled brown rice or sugar-free canned pumpkin.

Aussie diet for younger overweight rescue
By Aussiemama on Feb 13, 2021
First month switching to this .. our 38 lb smaller aussie border rescue was 10lbs lighter when we rescued him 18 months ago, he's now neutered and settled into his comfy forever home, eating well, no longer hoarding food. I can't find the right medium to get him back into his sleek self! This food seems a healthy ratio without being too extreme, I don't want to starve him, he's young, about 4yrs, calm but active, daily long brisk walks, weekly hikes, so although this is for seniors, I'm trying this out as a lower calorie diet. He's getting 1/2 cup twice a day and acts very satisfied, had no problem switching to this and eating heartily. It doesn't have much of an appealing aroma in my opinion First month switching to this .. our 38 lb smaller aussie border rescue was 10lbs lighter when we rescued him 18 months ago, he's now neutered and settled into his comfy forever home, eating well, no longer hoarding food. If he sheds a few lbs over the next few months I'll give it 5 stars. … more

Doggie loved the taste, Mommy liked the quality.
By patty on Jan 31, 2021
Our dog is a lhasa, lazy, chunky. I wanted to slowly change his food to a higher quality food that might also help with his stiff joints, while cutting calories. We did a slow mix of his healthy weight food with Wellness Core Senior. He loves it. He is also showing improvement in his movement and energy. He is very picky and trying something new is always a gamble. This one has turned out to be a winner for us.

It's a Winner
By Emma on Dec 29, 2020
My dog loves this food. Usually I have to trick her by adding wet food to her dry. But she gobbled this up in a minute. I love the quality of all the Chewy foods and treats. Customer service is very friendly and helpful as well. Ordering from Chewy is easy and delivery is fast. I've never had a problem. I believe you should work smarter, not harder, and Chewy makes it easy for me to shop with ease and provide quality food that she will actually enjoy.

Great for senior dog!
By Tranacria51350 on Jan 5, 2021
My senior Sheltie loves this dog food . Ever since we changed her over to it she has become energized, running and jumping as if whe was a pup again. She is also more lively. This is reasonably priced. The ingredients appear to be healthier than your over the counter dog food products.

Dogs didn’t like it
By Zoey on Dec 12, 2020
I’ve gradually introduced Wellness Core dog food to my two Bichon’s over a two-week period... They would pick out their old dog food and leave the wellness core in the dish... Over time they finally started to eat it taking one piece at a time out of their dish but would only eat a small amounts less than 1/2 their usual amount. I am going to have to find another alternative dog food

Good, but not for every dog
By GGale on Oct 31, 2020
I've always fed my dogs on flavors that aren't chicken, beef, or turkey, and have used Wellness Core RawRev in the past. We decided to switch to a senior food because my shepherd turned 8 this year (we figured it was time to change over), and, unfortunately, Wellness Core does not have a lot of selection for Senior flavors :( At first, she seemed accepting of the new food, then, decided that she vehemently despised it (perhaps offended that she was considered an "old lady" now) to the point of refusing to eat unless there was something else with the food (egg whites, chicken broth, soft dog food, etc.). So, I'm giving this a 4-star because of her being picky. great dog food
By doglover on Jan 10, 2021
I have researched dog foods and decided to begin this food. My dog, a Lab/Golden mix, absolutely loves this food. She seems to have more energy and is having regular, good stools. Definitely recommend.

They love it
By MabelandEddie on Dec 12, 2020
Mabel is finicky and she likes this food! It will earn 5 stars when they make a “smaller size kibble” version. Dog Food Advisor gives food a great rating which was good nutrition wise. Our dogs like the flavor and I crush it up a bit for our senior dogs.
