When Victor Sr Healthy Weight was recalled I was struggling to find a good alternative to use for my 11 year old Terrier. I was prepared for the days it would take to have her system adjust - that adjustment went quickly and well. She loved the taste and ate it with no problem. My issues were that she had to poop more often, and her stool was much more loose. After even more research, I realized that Wellness had more ‘fillers’ than Victor, and this was the issue. I don’t think there is a food that completely replicates Victor, which was her food since she was 6 years old. I am now trying a brand that was highly recommended by a friend that has less fillers and is for Sr dogs. We are slowly switching over and that process is not finished yet, fingers crossed new food will be a better fit.
Everything from ordering to reminders to delivery is excellent, but too expensive - yes I recommend this item/ service - if you can afford it . Besides price I have nothing bad to say
My dog is 14 years old and doing great. He loves this dog food. Stools are great and its one of the best on the market.
I’ve been feeding my senior shepherd mix Leo Wellness’s small breed turkey & oatmeal formula for awhile (his teeth are badly worn down), and he has enjoyed it. Decided to switch it up a bit and ordered this chicken & barley formula. Oh, he inhales every bite. A clear winner.
I just cannot seem to find a dog food that my 13.5 yr old AussieDoodle will eat. This is the 3rd dog food I’ve purchased. Do you have any suggestions/recommendations?
So far so good. Seems to be a good replacement for the Victor dog food.
We have been fans of Chewy for a couple of years now. Unfortunately I opened this bag of dog food 3 days ago and it was completely rancid and I had to reorder. I went with a more expensive brand hoping to avoid the problem again.
My senior dog absolutely hated this food. He gave one sniff and refused to eat it. For the price and the name brand, I expected more since I am typically a fan of this brand. We had to find some mixers for him to eat it….even then, he would try to leave the kibble in the bowl. Super disappointed.
Great next step for our aging girl. She was on the regular one but needs the extra vitamins and protein now that she’s over 9. Easy to transition and no diarrhea.
I have two older shepherds that both enjoy this recipe.
