FAQ

What is the shelf life of Wellness Natural Pet Food?

Wellness dry foods have an expiration of 18 months from date of manufacture. Wellness canned foods have an expiration of 3 years from date of manufacture. Dog & cat plastic have an expiration of 2 years from date of manufacture.

What does "natural" pet food mean?

Natural means we use ingredients that are derived from plants, animals and minerals in our recipes and that Wellness pet food contains no artificial preservatives or colors.

Why do your products sometimes vary in size, shape, color, texture or aroma?

Wellness products are natural, and as a result, you may experience product that looks slightly different in texture, color, shape, aroma and consistency from time to time. This is a function of natural products in general, but also raw material fluctuations and the manufacturing process. Please be assured that even though the product may look different from batch to batch, its superior nutritional value, palatability and safety does not change.

Why are some Guaranteed Analysis (GA) levels minimums and others maximums? Do you choose how to list them?

Minimum and maximum claims for each nutrient are established by AAFCO. The only necessary claims a pet food must make are for Crude Protein, Fat, Fiber, and Moisture.* Protein is always a minimum claim* Fat is always a minimum claim* Fiber is always a maximum claim* Moisture is always a maximum claimWhile these are the only nutrients mandated by AAFCO to carry min/max claims, ash may voluntarily be listed, but must be listed as a maximum guarantee. Any vitamins, minerals or live microorganisms (probiotics) may be labeled with a minimum guarantee. We're proud to be 1 of the only pet food manufacturers who are able to include guaranteed levels of probiotics on our dry food recipes. Probiotics can help improve digestion and immune system function.

    Cats love them

    By on

I use these as rewards after running the cats or playing with them. They get very excited after play time because they know it’s treat time.

    Kitty does not like

    By on

And she likes most treats and especially fishy ones. Perhaps it’s the whitebail? Usually highly recommend the kitties, guess just not this flavor for this cat.

A Big Hit for Grain Free

    By on

I'm trying grain free on a newly adopted 1.5 year old cat who came to us with alopecia (hair loss caused by over grooming or other issues). It has not been determined if the condition is stress related to the shelter he came from or psychological. Our vet recommended trying some non-invasive remedies first, like a grain free diet, since there's no way to know without extensive medical tests what may be the cause. I was a little skeptical at the "cranberries" included but since anything "fish" seems to be his go to, we gave this a try. So far, he has taken to this treat very, very well and is eating wet and dry grain free foods. We've had him for going on 6 weeks & we think we do see some I'm trying grain free on a newly adopted 1.5 year old cat who came to us with alopecia (hair loss caused by over grooming or other issues). wellness kittles treats

    By on

My cat hates these treats. He turned his nose up at them. I don't have cat senses but to me, they don't have a good smell or appearance. I snuck it in with another brand of treats and he immediately spit it out. I bought three flavors and it's a "NO".
