They love it!

This is a great product! It is a bit pricey, but there is no waste. I use a variety of platform feeders so they can all access the feed. It also helps them to escape from any lurking predators. A big plus with this product is the pistachios added with fruits, pine nuts and peanuts. I add a bit of finch food for the millet lovers, doves and finches. Squirrels and crows also love this feed. It is important to keep your feeders clean and fresh water available. My critters are happy and healthy. Looking forward to seeing the babies visit in the spring. I would also like to mention that even if you don't care to feed wildlife, just having a fresh water source is a wonderful way to help them too. Thanks Chewy for carrying the larger bags!

Lots of Peanuts

I bought this to compare with Wild Delight's Nut N' Berry mix, mainly to see if there were actually a better proportion of nuts (besides peanuts) and fruit (beside the odd raisin or dried cranberry). First of all, it still has a LOT of peanuts--more than I personally want in a bag of food that costs this much! On the other hand, the birds don't seem to mind at all. It actually does attract nuthatches, chickadees, and SOME woodpeckers. The woodpeckers are usually more interested in the suet, but occasionally a downy woodpecker will eat some of the mix, and the red-bellied woodpeckers sometimes spend quite a few minutes clinging to the tube feeder. The Northern Flickers don't seem that interested, although that was largely true of all the seed mixes I put out. If there's suet, they'd rather eat that, but will sometimes grab a nut or two. We get birds like Bluejays (who love peanuts) and Cardinals (who love safflower and sunflower seeds), and mourning doves. Interesting enough, though some customers have complained that the pieces are too big for smaller birds--I haven't found that to be true. Besides the chickadees and nuthatches, there are sparrows, house finches, carolina wrens, juncos, tufted titmouses, and a LOT of goldfinches. I see more of these small birds, especially the goldfinches, than I do of the larger birds. I don't break the pieces into smaller bits, either. There ARE sunflower hearts, but these birds have sharp little beaks and will just chip away at the nuts. I do want to point out, that because the pieces are large, and the dried fruit can actually swell up during rainy or humid weather, you want to use a bird feeder that has big enough holes or slots for the feed to drop down. As for the woodpeckers, they definitely prefer any feeder that alongs them to cling to it. One the downside, squirrels and chipmunks LOVE this nut-heavy mix.So if you have a squirrel problem, prepare for them to empty out the feeder quickly. We have our feeder pole set up with a baffle that keeps these furry critters off the feeder, but I will occasionally put down a little food for them as a treat. I've seen starlings as well, but usually just a couple, and they don't stay long since the neighbors have food that they apparently like better, and the feeders I use are somewhat awkward for them to balance on. On the other hand, while the birds definitely like the food, and nothing is wasted, I think the other mix, with the heavier sunflower content, was definitely more popular because I would have to refill the feeders more frequently. The other mix is also a few dollars cheaper, so for that reason, I might keep this food as a back-up choice if the other blend is not available for some reason. I can recommend this as an added treat rather than a main feed, unless you do tend to see a lot of nut and fruit loving birds where you live.

Attracts Birds as Labeled

The woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, along with doves, bluejays, and cardinals flock to this food. I mix it with the Wild Delight Porch and Patio Wild Bird Food which also attracts the finches, sparrows, and juncos. I never seem to run out of feathered visitors.

Five Fruits

This is the only food that contains that much fruit. It's expensive but that's why.

Big chunks, tiny bag= Not Great

This was a replacement seed recommended by Chewy for a prior purchase that also had big chunks and full seeds - too big for chickadees, sparrows, etc. I like that they are hulled, but the birds still haven't eaten the first stuff. I'm glad this is only a 5 pound bag.

woodpecker food

The birds liked it but the squirrels liked it too. I have nothing against feeding them, but the birds stay away when the are hogging the feeders. Going to stick with the Browns Bird Lovers no Squirrel. The birds love it and the squirrels don't.

Disappointed

Based on reviews and the wonderful mix of ingredients in this product, I was looking forward to this becoming the main offering for my feathered friends. While the blend is one of the best I've found, unfortunately, I also found bugs flying around inside the bag. Perhaps the quality control issue is unique to the 20 pound bag I purchased, but I am hesitant to try it again even with the 5 pound bag.

Stealer’s Wheels

Feathered creatures steal it as fast as I put it out. Am I doing something wrong?

Birds loved it

The birds in my neighborhood loved this food, but it didn't seem to attract woodpeckers--and I have several here. They seem to only come for suet. This is a great blend, but too expensive for me to keep it in rotation!

Best woodpecker food

Ordering again. Had new birds at the feeder that have never come before. Purple Finches, Red-Bellied Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers, Bluebirds all came to my window feeders. Birds that usually don't visit feeders. Yellow Rumped Warblers, Goldfinches. Looks better than the last trail mix I bought!!
