Why do they state "starch free" when potato isolate is a starch?

Answer by ChewyOct 10, 2018
Potato protein isolate is not a starch, but a pure by-product of potato processing. Potato starch is another by-product of potato processing, but it is drastically different from and not present in potato protein.

What is meat protein isolate? Sounds skechy...

Answer by ChewyDec 13, 2017
Protein isolates are derived from a variety of food sources – plant, meat, dairy, and more. Protein isolates are typically 95+% pure protein, with some approaching 100% purity. Protein isolates are far from inexpensive byproducts. Unlike starches, they are distinctly not “filler” ingredients. Rather, they are the product of a focused attempt to extract the most valuable components out of a food source, and their price/cost reflects that.

What is the kcal per cup of this food? I can't seem to find it here or on their website.

Answer by ChewyFeb 10, 2018
This formula has approximately 489 calories per cup.

Dogs and cats have very different nutritional requirements. How can you have food that is appropriate for both dogs and cats? Doesn't seem logical or good.

Answer by ChewyJul 15, 2020
Wysong diets are designed to mimic the animal's natural feeding patterns - what they are genetically adapted to. In the wild, canines and felines have a similar carnivorous (meat-based) diet. And so, properly designed foods are appropriate for either carnivore. It is true that pet food regulatory bodies have established differing minimum nutrient needs for dogs and cats, but that is not applicable to Wysong’s foods. Wysong do not formulate to achieve regulatory minimums and have been advancing pet health education and nutrition for 40 years.

Switched my cats from Iams to Natural Balance Limited Ingredient for breakfast and Epigen for dinner. The difference in my cats' health is astounding! Especially Freyja, my 11 yr old Calico. She no longer has scabs on her neck, her fur is glossy, and she is far more active and interested in the happenings around the house instead of sleeping all day. She gained about 3 lbs over 3 yrs on the Iams (Ingredient change?) and became chonky. She now appears to be shedding some weight. The other cats are healthy and happy too. h

My oldest cat was recently diagnosed with diabetes. After switching him and my other 3 cats to an all wet food diet, I noticed that a few cats still yearned for the dry food, including my diabetic boy. Did a lot of research and found this food that would be safe for him as a diabetic. I introduced this food very slowly to all four cats and they all love it! They don’t get a lot of it since the wet food is their main source of food, but it has satisfied the craving they had for the crunchy food.

Diabetic kitty loves

My old, diabetic boy loves this kibble between his wet food meals. It's small, so at first it was difficult for him to eat. The low carb prevents a blood glucose

My old, diabetic boy loves this kibble between his wet food meals. It's small, so at first it was difficult for him to eat. The low carb prevents a blood glucose spike! It's difficult to find low carb cat food that doesn't make you take out a bank loan to buy. The corner coupon on each bag is nice, too, as we've started transitioning all our indoor kitties to this food!

Best food for dogs with cancer

It is hard to find a dry dog food with very low carbs. I mix with low carb can food. Both my dogs eat it very well

Good protein source.

Because Smokey and Tuxi's diet is mostly wet food I give a measured amount each day as treats and they love it. I can't give them enough!

Kitty did not care for it.

I tried the Epigen 90 first and both cats ate it fine. Not this formula though. It did not make them sick, they just didn't care for it.
