These treats are hard. Yummy Combs are purposely made strong so that dogs are encouraged to chew longer. The action of chewing allows the teeth to be scrubbed and flossed all the way to the gum line. Dr. Jan Bellows has made sure these treats are between a range of 60-70 hardness so NOT to break teeth. This allows the tarter and plaque to chip off.
Dogs vary in the time it takes for them to eat a Yummy Combs depending on how aggressive of chewers they are. We hear reports from anywhere from 1-10 minutes. So the longer they chew, the more cleaning action benefit they get.
