I had previously purchased this cone when it was made of a canvas material that was both durable and washable. Due to an unfortunate and messy situation, we had to dispose of that cone and I reordered what I thought was the same great product that had previously worked so well for our dog. Apparently the cone manufacturer has changed the canvas material to a very poor quality foam. It didn't take long for my dog to poke a hole in it from itching and the creasing of the foam getting bent. I would love to be able to buy the original cone again.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. I have purchased this cone many times before and even recommended it to others. However, they have recently changed the tough fabric to a foam material and my dog ripped through it in a day. The fabric cones could endure through anything my large dog put it through and we live on 2 acres. This foam cone is absolutely garbage, I don’t even think it could hold up to a smaller dog. Very disappointed and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

This cone is very sturdy (unlike other reviewers, I did receive one with canvas material), but the clear panels don't always end up in a position to provide a clear view. I tried inserting his regular collar at various positions, but the cone still twists around Usually gravity pulls the solid grey material to the bottom (overlapped to fasten, so is heavier). I cut some other holes in the solid panels, but that defeats the purpose, so I taped plastic over those. That worked better, but I wish I had bought a cheaper, clear plastic cone. In my opinion, this would be a better product if there were more see-through plastic panels.

Works good, but

This product would have been great if my dog didn't have such bad anxiety. With in the first 2 minutes probably, she somehow put a slash in it so I took it off

Deeper than some cones, & more versatile

For my cat, I like the deeper depth of this e-collar because it's the only one, so far, that prevents her from reaching the tip of her tail. I also like it's light weight, flexibility, and adjustability so she can get through her litter box door. I don't like the elastic loops the you have to put a collar through because they make putting it on and taking it off a pain. If they must use loops, they should have snaps or Velcro. It's not the most uncomfortable e-collar, but my small cat just sits like a loaf, with her head resting on the floor in front of her when she's wearing it, so she's clearly not happy in it. I'll have to find her something better for long-term until she gets over this tail-biting condition, but until then, this is the best thing I've found.

Repurchased without knowing manufacturer changed materials

I bought a Zencone awhile ago for my German shepherd. It was the best cone, since it was soft but still durable. I ordered a new one and was unpleasantly surprised to find the panels were no longer made of canvas. They are made of foam with no kind of reinforcement. My dogs nail poked a hole in one of the panels on the first wear. I’ll be sewing canvas onto the cone myself. I would not recommend for any dog that will even *attempt* to remove the cone themselves.

The makers of this cone had a good idea and good intentions: to create a soft, padded e-collar with see-through panels so dogs can still see. However, when I put it on my dog, he tried to scratch his ear with his hind leg and tore a hole right through the unreinforced padded sections, making the cone pretty much useless. My recommendation to the makers is to add a plastic, scratch-resistant film on the outside of the padded sections. That way, dogs can still enjoy the comfort of the padding while the cone remains durable enough to withstand the inevitable scratching that comes with wearing it.
