About Zignature Dog Food

Learning From Nature

Learning From Nature

Zignature took all of nature's best ingredients and added key nutrients to create a dog food with complete nutrition. In these Physiologically Tuned formulas, meat always comes first, and they've eliminated common allergy-inducing proteins and fillers that are hard to digest. These grain- and gluten-free recipes feature premium proteins, low glycemic carb sources and a limited number of ingredients. It's exactly what your pup should be eating—nothing more, and nothing less.

Meat-First Philosophy

The first ingredient in any list is the most important, because it tells you what the majority of the food is made of. Some commercial pet foods take the easy way out with high-starch carbs near the top of the list. In each of Zignature's dry foods, meat not only comes first, but also second. A quality animal protein source starts off the recipe, followed by a meat or fish meal for an extra helping of the amino acids your pet needs and the flavor he craves.

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

Recipe for a Happy Tummy

All of Zignature's formulas are free of the most common canine allergen—chicken. And that includes chicken eggs, meal and by-products. As hypoallergenic foods, both wet and dry formulas also avoid the usual sources of stomach upset, including gluten, grains, corn, wheat, soy and dairy. Zignature never uses binding agents that are full of simple carbs and starches; instead, these recipes have low glycemic legumes that deliver extra protein and fiber.

Simple Is Best

Zignature isn't just the diet nature intended—it's even better. They've improved on nature's recipe to give your pup the right amount of each nutrient, and they've done it with the fewest possible ingredients. Just like meals in the wild, these recipes are limited in content for easy digestion and less chance of food sensitivities. These limited ingredient diets have single protein sources, so they're easy to rotate to give your dog a taste of something new.

Only the Best Ingredients

Only the Best Ingredients

To create these nourishing dishes, Zignature gathered the best possible ingredients from trusted sources around the world. Trout, salmon and whitefish all come from the Pacific waters of the Northwest; turkey is raised in the Midwest; duck comes from farms in Western France; kangaroo is brought over from Australia; and venison and lamb are delivered from New Zealand farmlands. Healthy fruits and veggies are harvested from several North American farms based on the season.

Zignature makes nutritious formulas with no artificial flavors, preservatives or colors.

CHICKPEAS: Low-glycemic legumes that promote stable blood sugar and provide an excellent source of dietary fiber, extra protein and copper.

FLAXSEED: Derived from whole, ground seeds of the Flax plant for an outstanding offering of omega-3 fatty acids for coat health, plus soluble fiber for digestion.

ALFALFA MEAL: A natural grass that's rich in vitamins A and C, niacin and calcium, and it also makes a great source of protein and fiber.

SUNFLOWER OIL: Pressed from sunflower oil, it supplies the omega-6 essential fatty acids that your pet needs to maintain skin and coat health.

  • Very good limited ingredient food for my allergic dog.

    By on

Zignature Salmon Formula and their lamb formula are the only dog food I can find that doesn't have ingredients that are on my dog's allergen list. I can depend on Chewy to have my dog's food and meds in stock whenever I need them and 2 day shipping is fantastic! Chewy is where I go for all my dog's needs.

  • Best thing ever!

    By on

We put our english bulldogs on this back in March. One of our boys has always had skin issues; hot spots, dirty, itchy face folds and we had to wipe his bottom after he went to the bathroom. After a month on Zignature Salmon Limited Ingredient we saw a difference. He still wasn't perfect but I decided to give it more time. We could literally see his skin issues working their way out of him!!! Now after 5 months he is flawless! Very minimal face fold stains and hot spots and his bottom isn't dirty after going to the bathroom. The only bad thing is that I didn't start him on this sooner! If you have any of these issues, give this food a try and give it a little time, we're glad we did!

  • The fur boy loves it!

My chihuahua beagle mix was losing hair like crazy, feed him fresh salmon once he loved it. So knowing he was allergic to chicken, grains I decided to give this a go. He loves it! And I switch it with venison kibble from another brand to mix it up, his coat is super shiny and doesn't shed as much as before! Yay

  • Great for Sensitive Stomach

    By on

I have a 1 year old Great Dane who is both a picky eater and has had very soft stool with about 5 different foods I have tried. He eats this food dry and his stool is as firm as I have ever seen it. I feed it to my two Border Collies also and they are doing well on it. Lots of energy and, although it is not a low calorie food, it is not putting extra weight on my girl who has a tendency to gain quickly.

  • Great quality

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

I originally found this food in a small holistic shop locally. I tried a small bag for my puppy (16 month old mix breed dog) and she loves it. I have read to buy smaller bags so it stays fresh longer so we are auto-shipping the 13.5 lb bag. You can't beat the price for this quality food. She shows more interest than the Fromm Heartland Lg breed puppy she was on prior to our switch. I am interested in rotation of protein so she doesn't get bored with the same food all the time. We also give her the Zssential canned food.

  • This food is a big hit with my pup

    By on

I've got an aging Labradoodle with a sensitive stomach. When there was mold in Acana Lamb & Apple, we had to switch foods. Zignature had great reviews, but most importantly it doesn't have chicken fat or chicken meal. They explain that they know that more than 50% of dogs can't digest chicken. My pup loves this food and it did not upset his stomach at all. Which begs the question: WHY do so many foods and treats contain chicken?

  • Zignature limited ingredient foods are well-received by my dog

    By on

Our dog recently adopted adult dog has a lot of allergies. First we were on Hills z/d, but after a bath, she would really stink in about two days. Since we also didn't find her allergies were getting better with z/d, we switched to Zignature. We have since tested her and found her allergic to over 40 environmental items, so apparently food is not really the problem. I think we prefer the lamb as the salmon is rather attractive to the cats;-D

  • Loving Zignature but Seeking Wild Salmon

    By on

Zignature is an excellent product. The only thing that would make it better would be to source all salmon as wild-caught. Farm-raised fish is risky to human health, so I don't purchase it for our dog either. For now, we stick to the other flavors, but keep looking for a comparable product containing wild fish.

This was the first time I tried Zignature. My dogs love it and after the first use I see a big difference in their fur and energy. This has made me a great fan and want to change my entire order to Zignature. GREAT BUY!!!!

  • Not sure yet

    By on

Having mixed 2 of the 3 flavors together, I can only report on two things: input and output. Copper loves his new food. On point two, there seems to be a significant increase in poop pickup indicating it may not be being utilized as efficiently as Instinct's Lamb and Pea Limited diet. Jury's out yet.
