Description

Zoo Med Premium Repti Bark Natural Fir Reptile Bedding is all natural and made from the bark of fir trees. It’s the perfect substrate for humidity-loving reptiles like green iguanas due to its ability to absorb moisture and then release it into the terrarium. In addition, the smaller chips provide better moisture retention while preventing live food from hiding in your substrate. Naturally decorative Repti Bark provides your terrarium with a tropical rainforest look.

Key Benefits
  • 100% pure fir bark that's washable and re-useable, simply soak in hot water ever 2-3 months for fresh and clean bark
  • Smaller pieces help to prevent crickets from hiding in the substrate
  • The ideal substrate for Green Iguanas and any other humidity love reptiles as bark slowly releases moisture into the environment
  • Not heat treated so it gives the bark better moisture retention
  • Repti Bark helps to replicate your pet's natural tropical habitat and aids in shedding and respiratory functions, and is conducive to natural burrowing and digging

    Best substrate for holding humidity

    By SnakeLady5 on Mar 11, 2021

Some of my snakes need a humid 'hide' to shed well, or just because they like it-this natural bark bedding does the job better than others I've tried & looks great. The chunky texture makes it easier for snakes to have traction, as opposed to the "brick-types" that you dissolve in water- those are messy, sometimes grow mold & offer no traction whatsoever. When your pet defecates, it also goes down into this substrate so your pet isn't sliding thru it, unlike the smooth textured coco fiber stuff; it's easy to spot-clean. The natural color of Reptibark is also very attractive. I will buy this again.

    happy with Douglas fir bedding

By christaexplores on Nov 23, 2020

I have 2 ball pythons and 1 boa imperator , I have tried several types of bedding and really love this one, it smells really good and holds just the right amount of moisture without sticking to the rats. I read people's concerns about little white bugs . These are not the same bugs (mites ) reptiles have , those kind live on the reptile , wood mites are harmless to reptiles and are commonly seen when purchasing mulch Ect . If concerned you would want to get a heat treated substance or to heat treat it on the oven to kill any bugs .

    Great Smelling and Absorbent

By SweetRudee on Jan 13, 2021

I have used this since I bought the tortoise over 25 years ago and it is still by far the greatest bedding. It is long lasting, great smelling and exceptionally absorbent

    Good Substrate

By babygurll on Nov 18, 2020

It’s a good substrate and I like that I can reuse it until I go bio active.I baked it when I got it to kill any mites that might have came with it.While I was spreading it out I got a couple splinters which is understandable. Not sure how well it holds burrows yet tho.

It smells good and my tortoise liked it very much. Big package so I used half of it and am planning for future replacement with the rest. Highly recommended.

I love it, so does my snake

By Cats on Oct 20, 2020

This is great for maintaining humidity for my ball python also when I feed her it doesn't stick to the rats, so I know that she isn't ingesting too much substrate.

    Not satisfied

By Lisa on Oct 29, 2020

Found little white mites throughout the wood chips. Had to throw away due to being concerned that my baby tortoise would get infested with them.
