- Place brick in pail/bucket or sink.
- Add four quarts of water.
- Allow brick to expand for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Wring out excess moisture.
For small animals, snakes, and tarantulas, use dry by laying out moist substrate in the sun to dry before moving to your animal's enclosure.
Maintenance: Mist your Eco Earth daily to achieve the desired humidity level in your enclosure. Check your humidity gauge to confirm that you have the correct humidity levels for the species you are keeping. It helps to partially cover the top of your terrarium glass to increase humidity levels.
Cleaning: Spot clean as needed. If a foul odor persists, then remove all Eco Earth and replace. Changing all of your Eco Earth depends on the smell and number/size of animals in your enclosure but a 100% change is recommended at least every six months.

Great product
By Mary on Feb 12, 2021
I love this product. This bedding is wonderful, keeps my snake cage humid and it keeps smells down completely. It does have a smell to it, especially when its first put in and wet, but I do not think it is a bad smell. My snake also loves this stuff and happily checks out his environment whenever I change his bedding. It's also great for snake shed. We've recently had issues with our furnace and had to use a space heater in our room (he's in the bedroom with us) and it severely dried out his cage and he was having trouble getting all his shed off. I changed this bedding, and within a few moments of being in there with this the rest of his shed came right off.

Fluffy Coco Coir
By Quin on Feb 2, 2021 Top 1000 Contributor
I have tried a couple different coco coir blocks and this has been my favorite. It's fine and fluffy, the brick expands and soaks up moisture well. I do usually break it up a bit and use warm water to speed the process but these bricks break up easier than others - simply wet, then crack in half and flip to expose the dry portion to any remaining moisture (or to the already moistened soil) and they're ready to use in a matter of minutes. I'll be perfectly honest: I use these blocks to make soil for bioactive terrariums and plants. My isopods and millipedes seem to easily burrow in it unlike sand or clay soils, and my springtails have no problems crawling around through the little pockets between I have tried a couple different coco coir blocks and this has been my favorite. The plants also love how it holds plenty of moisture but doesn't compact or hold way too much moisture like peat does. I imagine it'd be great for any terrarium critters, especially frogs that like plenty of humidity... though I can't speak to that personally. … more

Good product but I received with a hole in plastic
By Brooke on Feb 20, 2021
Great product no matter where you buy it but when I received it there was a large tear in the thin plastic coating. I did not ask for a replacement because I doubt that they would give me one without returning this one and I don't have time for that. I would have said five stars had it not come that way to me.

Great for buggers
By Oliver on Feb 14, 2021
I have a pet snail named Frank and this is the first substrate he's burrowed in! He loves it :) The only thing im not a huge fan of is that it tends to dry out pretty quickly without a moisturizer. I have to spray is for about 5 minutes to get it completely soaked.

amazingly easy
By eris on Feb 3, 2021
I wanted to order this substrate for a bio-active terrarium that I am in the process of creating. It was super easy to rehydrate and one brick gave me more than enough for my desired amount of substrate! Would totally recommend to people making tanks for reptiles or plants!!

Okay, so I don't use it for reptiles but...
By MouseMom on Dec 6, 2020
Okay, so I'm thinking most people purchase this product for their reptiles. I don't own any but I will say that I love this product. I have red wriggler worms for vermicomposting. Coco coir is one of the beddings that is recommended to use for worms. This is hands down the best coco coir bedding and the most affordable stuff that I've found. It expands like crazy and truly yields much more bedding than you think. The price is also unbeatable and I appreciate it because the worms go through this stuff very quickly. I also appreciate that because it's made for reptiles, I know that it will be safe for my worms and will not contain any sort of pesticides or chemicals like some would that Okay, so I'm thinking most people purchase this product for their reptiles. Does the job!
By MissIggz on Feb 5, 2021
No complaints here. I wasn't expecting it to be ground up to the point where it's more of a soil type texture, but it serves its purpose just fine

The best substrate!
By Remi on Jan 19, 2021
Best price for the best stuff around! I love that you can get this compressed and add your own water to make a bunch of substrate. My snake and lizard absolutely love this stuff!

love this stuff, get a lot of it!
By rory on Dec 20, 2020
I definitely should’ve split the bricks in half, got way more than I actually needed haha but now that I know I will remember that. Good price, bought for my snails.

Great Substrate for turtles!!
By Sadie on Oct 26, 2020
So glad I finally found this product. I spent every year looking for soil that didn't have any harmful ingredients for the turtles that cannot hibernate outside. This fiber is fantastic. It keeps moisture well if you want it to be moist. The turtles seem to love it and dig down right away when I place them in the terrarium.
