Description

This highly-effective, veterinarian-recommended treatment is specifically formulated to kill all life stages of fleas on contact with no painful biting required. With three-way protection that kills the eggs, larvae and adults, it breaks the flea life-cycle to help prevent re-infestation of both your house and hound. Precautions

For use only on dogs and puppies 7 weeks and older and weighing 11 - 20 lbs. DO NOT USE ON CATS. Keep out of reach of children. If your dog is on medication, consult your veterinarian before using this or any other product. Do not get this product in your dog's eyes or allow your dog to ingest this product.

Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Instructions

How to open:

  • Be sure tube is at bottom of pouch.
  • Using scissors, cut the pouch across the top and remove tube.

How to apply:

  • Remove one applicator tube from the package.
  • Hold applicator tube in an upright position facing away from you and your pet‘s face and eyes. Pull cap off tube.
  • Turn the cap around and place other end of cap back on tube.
  • Twist cap to break seal, then remove cap from tube.
  • The dogs should be standing for easy application. Apply the entire contents of the tube evenly on the top of the back from the shoulder to the base of the tail. At each spot, part the hair until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and gently squeeze to expel a portion of the solution on the skin. • Discard empty tube.
  • Under normal conditions the product is effective for a month. However, in case of severe flea infestation, retreatment may be necessary earlier than 4 weeks. Do not retreat more often than once every 7 days. After flea control is attained, return to a monthly retreatment schedule.

Does Advantage II for dogs expire?

There is no expiration date required on the packaging by the EPA for Advantage II for dogs. The product should be kept in its original packaging and stored as directed on the label.

Can I bathe my dog after applying Advantage II?

Yes. However, we suggest bathing your dog before applying Advantage II. Just make sure your dog is thoroughly towel-dried before application. If you choose to bathe your dog in between treatments, we recommend use of a general grooming shampoo for pets. Keep in mind that more frequent bathing may keep the product from working the full 30 days.

Can my dog go swimming after applying Advantage II?

Yes! Your dog is free to take a dip after Advantage II has been on for 24 hours. However, more frequent swimming may keep the product from working the full 30 days.

**Can I apply Advantage II for dogs on my cats?

No, do not use Advantage II for dogs on cats. Please follow label directions for the application of our flea products.

Can I use Advantage II for dogs on my rabbits?

No, do not use Advantage II for dogs on rabbits. Please follow label directions for the application of our flea products.

How does Advantage II for dogs work?

Advantage II for dogs combines two active ingredients:

  • Imidacloprid attacks the flea's nervous system - paralyzing and ultimately killing it.
  • Pyriproxyfen is an insect growth regulator (IGR) that kills flea eggs and larvae.

This combination plays a crucial role in treating and preventing infestations, because:

  • In an existing infestation, you might only be aware of the adult fleas, which only represent around 5% of the full infestation and are found on the pet.
  • Immature flea life stages which live in the pet's environment consist of around 95% of the infestation and can be almost invisible to the naked eye.

What is the difference between Advantage II for dogs and oral flea products?

Advantage II flea prevention is applied to your dog topically, spreading over the skin and hair. It kills fleas through contact, so fleas do not have to bite your dog to die. With oral flea medications, fleas have to bite your dog and ingest the medication before they are killed.

How long does Advantage II for dogs last?

A single application of Advantage II for dogs stops biting fleas for one month. However, if the dog has a severe infestation, retreatment within a month may be necessary. See product label for additional information.

How often can you use Advantage II for dogs?

Use Advantage II for dogs monthly, year-round to help keep your pet protected from fleas. Follow label directions for application.

How old does my dog have to be to use Advantage II for dogs?

You can use Advantage II for dogs on puppies and dogs 7 weeks of age and older.

Can I split tubes of Advantage II between my dogs?

No, you cannot split tubes of Advantage II for dogs between multiple dogs. To successfully prevent and control fleas, dogs must be treated with their own dose of Advantage II. Follow label directions for application.

Does Advantage II for dogs kill ticks?

Advantage II for dogs does not kill ticks but it does provide multi-stage flea control, effectively breaking flea life-cycle stages for lasting control of flea populations. It also treats, prevents and controls lice infestations on dogs.

How long does Advantage II for dogs take to work?

Advantage II for dogs kills fleas on dogs within 12 hours of application.

Can I touch my dog after applying Advantage II for dogs?

    Adverse Reaction

    By on

About thirty minutes after applying, my dog who has never had a seizure, had a seizure. I washed the treatment off and so far, 48 hours later, he seems okay. My other dog had diarrhea start about 30 hours later and lasting overnight into the next day. I can't say with 100% certainty that the flea treatment was the cause for the seizure or the diarrhea but I will not be applying another dose a month from now to find out.

    Disappointed

Fleas must be becoming resistant to the active ingredient in Texas, because this doesn't live up to its claim of killing fleas "on contact". I always check my dog over (which is easy to do, since she has a short, white coat) after having been anywhere with my dog that I suspect might have had fleas; but unfortunately I have found fleas feeding on her when she has had this product applied to her only days before (& she had not had a bath since). I can honestly say that it does slow them down, though - so I'm sure it kills them eventually - but after a blood meal? That's pointless - I may as well use an oral pill if I want that! Anyway, if I take my dog into flea territory unprotected and Fleas must be becoming resistant to the active ingredient in Texas, because this doesn't live up to its claim of killing fleas "on contact". Anyway, if I take my dog into flea territory unprotected and fleas hop on her, I do have a tough time picking them off her when we're out of there if she doesn't have this applied, because they're just too fast at getting away - but if she does have it applied, they are MUCH slower, so I can usually pick them off and crush them before we get in the car. Additionally, I read from a vet blog somewhere that a vet said this product washes off some & loses 1 week's effectiveness with every bath after application - and I've found this to be pretty accurate. So if you give your dog only 1 bath a week (like I average), then the product will only last you 2 weeks. Regardless, I think I will try another brand/active ingredient for a topical flea killer when I'm done with my most recent package of Advantage II, because it doesn't really meet expectations/claims, & I just don't see the point of the flea using it if the fleas die after feeding. … more

    Not up to par

    By on

We have been using Advantage for quite a while and this time it did not work at all. We put this on our rescue chiweenie who does not go outside at all and he is consistently covered in fleas. The advantage has done absolutely no good and I’ll probably reach out to Chewy about this. $60 is far too much to pay for a product that does not work

    Really works

    By on

Have been using this for my large Pomeranian and my Cavachon for 11 and 9 years respectively. Have never had a single problem. I also have house cats that I don't treat because they never go outside. They have never been infected via the dogs.

This works great on all of my dogs. The only weird thing is that one of my dog gets a weird bitter breath for a few days after putting it on her.

I have used 3/4 products in 1 month! My dog still has an insane amount of fleas. Very disappointed. We live in a condo, the only time she goes outside is to potty:(

I've been using Advantage II on both my cats for years & now using on my 15-pound dog. This product works very well for us over the years, preventing any flea infestations on our animals, as well as in our home. I would highly recommend this effective brand of flea control.

This product works pretty good. Fairly expensive since it does not last all that long. It is still the best flea treatment I have found so far.
