Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Does this treat carpet beetles?

Answer by KarenOct 30, 2025
I got a can of knock out from a puppy party and I was able to spray #1x and now nothing comes out I took the nozzle off soak in hot water used a safety pin in the hole and it did nothing what can I do the fleas are getting worse

When is it safe to be back in a treated area?

Answer by ChewyDec 06, 2019
Treated areas should be vacated during application and allowed to fully dry (at least 2 hours) before pets are back in contact with treated area.

I live in an apartment. Can I treat one room and then have the cats and I sit in another and close the door and wait 2 hours until it dries? Or do we have to leave?

Answer by Autumn NApr 30, 2024
Treated areas should be vacated during application. It is recommended to thoroughly ventilate treated area for a minimum of 2 hours before returning to the area.

Does Knockout have to touch all surfaces to kill the fleas or does it just need to be sprayed in the room?

Answer by ChewyOct 31, 2018
This would need to touch the surface to treat. Hold can at arm's length and direct spray toward the area to be treated. Use a sweeping motion to apply product and back away from treated area while holding the can 36 inches away from the surface being treated. Areas of 80-100 sq ft can be treated in approximately 10 seconds with Knockout E. S. Area Treatment. When treating upholstered furniture, treat under cushions and areas where flea development occurs. Cover aquariums and fish bowls and remove birds from area prior to treating. Treated areas should be vacated during application.

My pups picked up fleas on a walk and by the time I knew it, we all had fleas. My pups are indoors except for bathroom breaks. It was SO bad. Even my car had been infested. After flea combing, dips and finally flea drops I had to treat the indoors. Sprayed all the soft surfaces (couches and beds), base boards and curtains all the flea’s were dead. I have to admit I didn’t know if it would work. It’s a very very fine mist that works incredibly well. I will have it on standby as you never know when these things are bound to happen.

I buy this once a year to prevent flea infestation in my home. It's easy to use and really works. Fleas are bad August thru the first good frost . Even though i use a topical flea treatment on my dogs they're bound to bring fleas in with them. This product stops them from setting up house in my home!

I held it as close to the floor as a could, but the way it came out of the can was more like a bug bomb and it went all over everything. I don't have normal cupboards with doors so I had to wash down all my dishes and throw away a lot of stuff that was on the countertop. The directions for us did warn me, and that's why I tried to keep it near the floor, but that isn't going to help with this particular stuff. I'll go back to using the other brand I usually get that isn't aerosolized so I have better control over where it lands.

My 84 year old mom was horrified to discover that fleas had been brought into her condo. (A stray cat had been sitting on her chair outside and when she sat on the cushion had brought them in.). By the time she had agreed to let me treat her place she had them not just on her cat but throughout the condo. I used this to spray on her floors and under cushions and after treating, the fleas were gone. It was easy to use. The only thing I'd say against it was that it was listed as being enough for a larger area but my mom's condo was smaller and I ended up using the entire can. Granted, how much you spray makes a difference, but if your area being treated is close to the area listed on the can, I'd recommend getting two cans.
