Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Questions & Answers

23 Customer Questions

Can I use this on mattresses that people sleep on including children?
Answer by ChewySep 28, 2018
This can be used on all surfaces of upholstered furniture, but it's recommended to avoid spraying to the point of wetting as this can be dangerous - a fine mist or spray applied uniformly is all that is necessary to kill fleas and ticks.

What surfaces should be treated? Is it for all (hard and soft) surfaces or is this primarily intended for rugs, carpets, bedding, and draperies?
Answer by ChewyJan 22, 2018
You can use this spray on both soft and hard surfaces. A fine mist or spray applied uniformly is all that is necessary to kill fleas and ticks.

Would this work for bed bugs?
Answer by ChewyJun 07, 2018
This spray is great for clearing fleas, ticks, bed bugs, ants and other unwanted insects.

Do i need to vacumn after the spray drys
Answer by ChewyJul 08, 2018
Once the product has dried, vacuuming is recommended.

As Good As Professional Pest Control

I've been using Virbac for two years. It was recommended by the local vetenarian that treats my cats, so I know that it is safe for cats. Unlike many professional pest control companies that insist on spraying every month, Virbac works for at least three months.

3 large dogs !!

Suggested by a friend and she nailed it!! Vacuumed the house then sprayed and vacuumed again later after it dried. I’ll use this product in the beginning of summer and again at the end of summer. With 3 dogs it was hard to get rid of fleas. One can I can do my large living room, bedroom and a hallway. Do it… do it!

No Knockout, Fleas Win

Saw no results. None whatsoever. Was hopeful, but at the end of day, disappointed. Would not recommend.

This stuff works

Wasn't sure at first, but after a few days saw results! This in combination with raid flea and carpet did the job! Spaced about 10 days apart. Also treated pets. So successful! Will do one more treatment with knockout lightly.

Knockout down for the count

I live on a farm. My cats and dog have access to all the 43 acres plus creekbeds. Bought knockout because of past experience with the product. Sprayed bedrooms living room and all furniture. It did not even kill off the adult fleas. I am disappointed that I wasted my money but even more that I still have fleas attacking me. I am going to be buying a strong vacuum cleaner and use it frequently to such up the fleas and eggs and larvae. I will alas keep searching for a worthwhile product to aid in the battle against fleas.

This works if you know what you’re doing

I had a horrible flea infection years ago from cats. I bought $150 worth of this stuff and if you know what you’re doing & know how to clean, it works. I don’t go light on the spray, vacuum! Everything that’s material, clothing, has to be washed, what can’t be washed has to be sealed/bagged up for couple weeks. Treat fleas, lice, all same way, if your extensive it instantly works. My child is allergic to all and any bug bites. I didn’t buy this from chewy, but I ran across it and reading all these awful reviews, clearly not correct and a operational error not the product. Hopefully this helps somebody.

Works and lasts

I have used this product multiple times throughout the years and find that it works quite well. I also spray the baseboards in early spring and find that has kept my home flea and tick free.

Very Effective, but not perfect

After finding a flea outbreak in just one room of my home, I shut it off completely from my cats (including wedging towels under the door cracks!) and then proceeded to treat that room to get rid of the fleas. I chose this product as it doesn't contain cypermethrin, which can be very toxic for cats. The Virbac Knockout Area Treatment Spray worked well, but not perfectly, as I've had to re-spray that room more than once over the course of two weeks. My experience: buy more than one can so you have it on hand to re-treat as needed. Also, I'm using a couple flea light traps in that room that attract and kill any hold-out fleas that aren't killed by the spray. Making huge progress and seeing far fewer fleas in that room, but can't say yet that they are 100% gone yet, so I persist!

Wasn't impressed

I wasn't impressed with this. I still have fleas . We have spent so much money on flea treatments it's horrible. We try to catch the problem before it gets out of hand but this didn't help.

Didn’t work for me.

Sprayed 2 small rooms where fleas were present, 3 times. Let dry. Followed all spraying instructions. Fleas still present. Waste of $26.
