Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Does this dose matter for the weight of my cats? They are 17 and 20 pounds each and the Advantage XD has same type ingredients but has size options and larger size lasts two months compared to the 6 weeks. Is the weight difference going to affect it working properly?

It's been 3 weeks and my cat still has a bunch of fleas on his ears and nose. Should I apply another treatment and hope it will eventually work or assume it's not going to work for him and try something else?

Answer by ChewyAug 02, 2018
If you see fleas on your cat within a month after your pet receives flea treatment with Cheristin for cats, it is most likely these are new fleas that have very recently emerged from pupae and jumped onto the cat. These new fleas will be killed quickly before they can produce eggs that contaminate the environment.Consistent monthly application of Cheristin for cats should be maintained to provide continued protection for your cat against these fleas.

Is this the same strength that I can buy at the vet's office?

Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2018
This treatment is equivalent to treatments sold at a veterinarian office.

What was great is that is actually worked. I had to find a different flea medicine because I had been using and over paying for revolution, and had to have a prescription for. One more great thing is you can buy it without a prescription. No more waiting for the vet to send over RX. This medicine is an oil based not alcohol so it doesn’t sting like the alcohol based meds. I will be using this one for some time.

Great stuff -- stops a flea infestation dead in its tracks immediately. However, in a multi cat household, you need to isolate treated cats for 24 hours to avoid other cats grooming the treated cat. Treatment is the standard "top spot" method of applying where the treated cat can't lick. Treatment does not need to be dosed by weight. You will also want to treat the house with an IGR like methoprene or pyriproxifen, just to get the new fleas hatching out after the cat is treated.

I used it on my 3 cats it worked really good for 3 weeks but then I seen there was fleas coming back so I gave them another dose and so far I haven't seen any. It has been around 2 months since the last one I say give it a few tries before giving up on it. The products starts working pretty fast and is good. But also keep in mind clean everything as well as wash in case any eggs are left behind. This product worked wonderful and i do recommend it

Good price for very effective product

One size fits all-none of that buying 3 boxes because all your cats are in different weight ranges. Vials open easily with just a twist. I flea combed all 11 cats 12 hours or so after applying it and didn't find but 2 fleas on all 11 kitties. They were gone. It's been 2 weeks now and still not one flea. None of the 11 cats had any reaction at all to the Cheristin, which is great. What I don't like is that it stayed wet for over a day--some of the dose wicks up the hair at the application site, this cannot be avoiding with these topical products, and after 24 hours, I gently blotted the spot with a Kleenex, just pressed down on the wet spot, no rubbing. Next day, the fur was dry. This issue was not unique to Cheristin, every topical I've ever used caused this. Cheristin is half the price of my old product and works very well, maybe better than it did. I will continue to choose it.

Good

It was good as long as it is in a spot where they definitely couldn’t lick. Milo was a little to low and licked it and it made him pant bad and he couldn’t sit still

I used to spend a lot of money on a prescription flea treatment for my three cats. Recently, their veterinarian approved switching to Cherestin, a non prescription treatment which seems to be effective and which is much less expensive. I have been able to get it quickly and inexpensively from Chewy, which is great news!(

I can't believe more people aren't talking about this. It's like I put the hardest gel or GLUE in my cats fur. It didn't come out with soap and water. And she has long fur, so it got tangled and when she tried to clean herself it got stuck in her teeth and she was yanking on her own fur and crying and I had to get it unhooked from her teeth! I gave her a bath and it's still hard. Then I had to cut off a bunch of the knotted fur. She's hiding from me! Thanks a lot!
