I understand that prices raise with inflation and would have been fine paying more had the quality of the food, inconsistent dry vs. lots of gravy, and packaging, crooked tabs that break off, missing labels, not gone down hill. I do not know what changed but my dogs who have been eating this for years suddenly had horrendous gas even with probiotics. It stopped as soon as I began making their food. It used to be a decent quality affordable food but anything giving my dogs nonstop gas cannot be great for them or their health.
My 3 year old pup LOVES this wet food and I mix it with kibbles. My sister has 3 dogs, so when I go over there I bring Moxie’s wet food. Her yorki corgi and German Shepard loved it as well, no bowel movement issues. Her Australian Shepard had it once and had liquid poop and upset stomach for a day. It depends on the dog I believe. So out of 4 dogs, 3 were completely fine and normal, solid bowl movements. I will buy this again.
My German Shephard and Lab/Chow females both leave their dish half full. Never seen this with other canned food. This product smells like beef stew good enough for me to eat if I had too. It also smells peppery, just guessing. I'm donating the second case to an animal shelter.
I thought maybe this would have been a good choice for my dog. He's Not a picky eater at all, but he WOULD NOT even stick his nose towards this food after the second chance at it. Very disappointed that the "vegetables" consisted of maybe 4 peas per can and about 6 chunks of potatoes. NOT to mentionthe beef looked like chunks of processed chicken, and the chicken looked like hunks of liver or gizzard. WILLMOTBE PURCHASING THESE ITEMS AGAIN!
My best friend, a six-year-old rescue of about 50 healthy pounds, really enjoys the grain-free stews in our latest variety shipment. He came to us at under thirty pounds and has never been a fussy eater, but the relish with which he gobbles down these American Journey stews leaves no room for doubt about their appeal.
My female dog is extremely picky about what she eats. This is one of the few foods, canned or dry, that she will eat.
The cans are often less than full. Sometimes they are dryer with little or no gravy, other times they have a lot of gravy with less meat. I don't feel like I am giving my dogs a full meal with this product.
My senior dog has been really enjoying this can dog food. Finally found something she likes.
When first purchased this food about 8 months ago, my dog liked it's meaty consistency, was sort of like ground beef. Then suddenly one month, it was a soupy mess in a can. This last time it was pasty, thick but all fell out of can in one gloopy blob. My dog isn't as excited about it and I don't think I can keep feeding it to her.
My wife and I have 2 picky pups, so, we bought the combo to see if either was a hit or miss. We typically buy enough to last for a few weeks to let the food settle in with our pups, and that was no problem. Our guys ate this stuff pretty easily, but the ramifications completely ruin this food for everyone. The gas is intense. Both of em'. We can't let em' in our bed. I'm not trying to be funny. It's bad. You may have luck with this stuff, like I said, our picky eaters ate it. Hopefully, if you do buy this stuff you don't get the gas. I really hate to be negative about A. Journey because it's manufactured by Chewy and these folks are fantastic, but this is a miss.
