What makes this particular product "double duty" versus the regular Arm & Hammer litter deodorizer powder?

They both contain moisture activated SBC crystals and odor neutralizers. The ARM & HAMMER Double Duty Cat Litter Deodorizer Powder also contains additional odor neutralizers specifically developed for fecal malodors.

Do I have to put a thick film of the powder ontop or sprinkle it to just coat? Also, am I supposed to mix this in or leave it ontop?

In a clean, empty litter box, pour deodorizer to cover the bottom of the litter box. Add any type of litter as usual. Sprinkle on top of litter and mix in. Between litter changes, sprinkle on top after scooping to keep litter fresh.

Product destroyed/lousy packing

I like Chewy.com! Nice selection, acceptable pricing, good service on the phone...but the packing from the distribution center in my area is terrible. Maybe your area is better, but product delivered to me is very often damaged or even destroyed, and it's not FedEx fault. In this last case, they packed the arm & hammer litter baking soda in with the 40lb. box of litter itself, with no cushioning between them. The baking soda box was, of course, beat to death. I just threw it away. One of us, either chewy or myself, is going to have to change. I can't keep paying for beat-up product. Sorry.

This does the job of deodorizing, but if you are bothered by strong scents then it's not for you. It also makes the litter dustier making it difficult when cleaning

This does the job of deodorizing, but if you are bothered by strong scents then it's not for you. It also makes the litter dustier making it difficult when cleaning out the box. It's a must to wear a mask to prevent you from breathing in the used deodorizer and cat litter dust. I've been putting it inside the cat genie to reduce the waste smell rather than making more dust in the litter boxes.

I generally don’t use this directly in the litter, but if I do the cats don’t seem to be bothered by it. I usually sprinkle it over the waste to prevent the smell (and sting) of the ammonia from escaping as I scoop the litter since I don’t have a bin with a drop lever, just a regular one with a hinge lid. It works really well for that.

It Works!

This deodorizer works in both the litter box and the litter pail. We use the Breeze litter system, so I sprinkle a little bit on the pad too. The smell is strong

The smell is strong when first used, but not offensive and doesn't linger. Our newest addition Clyde has really stinky poops and this helps to quell the stink.

I use unscented cat litter because both my cats and I dislike those scented litters. I should have read the reviews questions/reviews. The second I opened the tab, the fragrance was so strong, I could smell it across the room. I had to duct tape it closed. I'll stick with the regular Arm&Hammer Baking Soda. It does just fine.
