New Formula Failure
By BFF1 on Feb 8, 2019
Last fall I noticed a new label on the can, and was so disappointed the food changed too. No need to repeat what other reviewers are saying, but it’s all correct. My cat experienced a long stretch of digestive issues, and BFF was the only food that didn’t exacerbate it. Now he turns his nose up nightly and won’t go near it. He used to clean the plate entirely and now I’m throwing out soupy, gooey food. I don’t blame him. I took it out of my auto-ship and switched to Fussy Cat. But only small cans available. Really disappointed. This must be due to the removal of carrageenan as an ingredient. BFF should go back to the drawing board on this one and create a similar and likable formula.

Disappointed with Reformulation
By SmallCatHerd on Jan 16, 2019
My cat herd previously loved this product. The previous product was actual flakes of tuna meat, compressed in a gel and solid, but easily broken with a fork. They absolutely gobbled it down, always looking for more! I served the new formulation to my cat herd and they did not gobble it up like before! They didn't even finish their bowls! This new product texture is like a paté slurry, extremely soft and no flakes of tuna meat like before. I am so very disappointed.

Texture has changed
By MissD on Feb 17, 2019
This food used to be a favorite, but has been recently reformulated and is now like a gooey mush. The Tuna and Salmon Soulmates has undergone the same changes. My cat absolutely will not touch it.

They ruined their food
By Swoper on Dec 10, 2018
I have 7, 8 and 9 year old cats who faithfully ate BFF food every day when it was 'in aspic'. This new formula change...the cats won't touch it. It grosses me out and apparently grosses them out as well. It now looks like baby sh......and apparently tastes like it too. No more BFF for us.

Formerly Favorite
By Toby on Jan 1, 2019
Rina and Josh have given this new recipe PAWS DOWN. The old recipe has been a staple in our home, but now the rest of the large box will be going to a nearby rescue facility. Yes, the BFF people have ruined the recipe.

New recipe is awful
By Tinny on Nov 17, 2018
Used to use all the flavours in 'aspic' range and then saw the reviews for new formula so I dashed out and bought a tin of each flavour to see. cats won't touch it. It feels as if they added more water to maximise profits and the quality of meat seems worse, looks like just organ meat. Cats would not eat it. It's a shame as one of my cats seems allergic to gravy formula and I struggle to find food that doesn't make her react.

They changed the recipe
By itsDB on Nov 15, 2018
I just bought several boxes of BFF cat foods and the recipe has changed. It went from a binder called "aspic" to one now called "gelee" or in another "gravy". It must have changed the taste I would suspect that my cat would rate the old recipe a "5" and the new formula about a "1". The consistency has certainly changed, from what I would call "firm" to one that is now "mush".

Product Has Changed & Not For Better
By RocknRoseDad on Oct 10, 2018
I absolutely HATE when a manufacturer changes a product to the point it's unrecognizable from the old product, charges the same amount of money (or more) for an obviously inferior product. And now my cats won't eat something that use to be a favorite. BFF Tuna use to be minimally processed & flaky tuna in aspic. It has become this watery red goo that oozes rather than flakes out of the can. It no longer has a flaky fish-like texture—which my cats loved. It doesn't even have a pâté firmness, it's now just a viscous liquid that needs to be scraped out of the can because it sticks to the walls of the cans. I doesn't look like food, it looks like sludge. I now have one less product, and one I absolutely HATE when a manufacturer changes a product to the point it's unrecognizable from the old product, charges the same amount of money (or more) for an obviously inferior product. I also think Chewy should stop carrying the brand. When you sell a product that no longer meets previous quality standards, it's time to stop promoting a high priced & obviously inferior product. … more

What happened!
By KMC1 on Dec 26, 2018
No notification the recipe was changing! Cat hates the food now. Looking for something new he will eat. Gave it a star because I had to.

Recipe change and It's nasty.
By Alice on Oct 14, 2018
Very sad to see BFF change their recipe. The new food is soupy and not even close to what it used to be. I will be looking for an other cat food now and sending back the 5 cases I just bought. Yes it is that bad.
