Best Food Ever
I have spent three years trying to find a cat food my kitty could tolerate, including hydrolized dry food. But, she could not tolerate any of it for long until I tried Blue duck and potato canned cat food. She seems on the way to being able to eat without the runs or spitting it up. I am so relieved. Thank you Chewy!!!
love the dry food, hate the wet food
Since I was feeding the dry food of this brand’s exact protein source, I decided to get the bundle. The contents of the cans are very dry. There’s no oil or anything. It’s like cutting compressed sand. I think it’s dated and stale. My cat refuses to eat it. She prefers her dry food over this. Money down the drain. Sad.
the cats like it
It's not always easy too. find cat food your cats will eat, but when I had to find a replacement for their usual fare as it was out of stock I gave this a try. Both cats seem quite happy to eat it and it seems to be good quality. Yeah!
Basic Blue duck and potato has changed
My two cats loved this cat food until they changed the label and seemingly the ingredients too. One ingredient has slightly changed. The Nutritional Information on the Chewy website page for this item is from the old label. It is disappointing that Chewy did not update such crucial information. It is disappointing that my cats will not go near the new version. I am contacting Chewy for a refund.
Came to see if others had the same experience
One of our cats abruptly refused to eat this yesterday, after eating it fine for months. This ended up in us being concerned, a $500 veterinary visit and ultimately noticing the different label and texture of the food. I wanted to see if others had the same experience, and they did. Heads up to anyone that uses this food!
tab pops off
The most recent flat of these cans have had a common flaw: the pull tab detaches from the lid and the can doesn’t open. We have been able to work around the problem with a tin opener but it is annoying that it happens in the first place.
Used to be good. Don't buy this now.
This was a reliable favorite for years but something happened over the last year or so and the formula has clearly changed a few times. There is increasingly less food in each can, and the consistency of the food seems more artificial and weird. My cat certainly noticed. I wouldn't trust this brand anymore.
My cats won’t eat this.
I don’t like to give negative reviews, but my cats don’t like this food. I have three, and they are pretty picky, but I gave some to my friend’s cats as well (they don’t get wet food often, so it’s a special treat), and they were excited at first but abandoned their bowl after a few licks. I was hoping the limited ingredient formula would help my itchy cat, but it’s pointless if she doesn’t even eat it.
Easy on the stomach
I had to switch to Blue Buffalo Basics Skin & Stomach Care Grain-Free when Chewy was out of my normal brand. My cat was a very picky eater. He ate it without a problem and had no digestive problems.
No more bad breath
We just adopted a new cat a few months ago and while we instantly fell in love with him, his breath left something to be desired. The vet felt it was the result of stomach issues and recommended we try a limited ingredient/alternative protein diet. I’m pleased to say that since switching to Blue Buffalo Basics duck & potato, not only has his breath vastly improved, but his fur looks AMAZING - so soft and healthy! We now refer to him as our little silkworm because his fur is so silky soft. We’re very happy with this product, and so is our little guy!
