Help your sensitive dog get the nutrition she needs and the taste she loves with Blue Buffalo’s NP Novel Protein Alligator Dog Food. Some dogs negatively react to common proteins, which can lead to issues like skin irritation and digestion problems. This Blue Buffalo recipe is specially formulated to help manage those issues and minimize reactions. It’s crafted with real alligator, which is rarely linked to food intolerances in dogs, and it’s the only source of animal protein in this canine kibble. This recipe also provides dogs with omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil and flaxseed to promote healthy skin and a lustrous coat. Plus, it’s made without grains, corn, wheat or soy and is rich in antioxidants to support a healthy immune system.

I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.

About BLUE Buffalo
Blue Buffalo began with unconditional love and some furry inspiration from a large breed Airedale, Blue. When Blue's family started a pet food company, their vision was clear. They wanted every pet parent to be able to feed their pet with the same care they would feed family. So they created the #1 natural pet specialty food to help furry family members live happy, healthy lives. Of course, they named it after Blue.

Alligator?
By Ross on Feb 25, 2021
9 yr old dog has had rashes for a while. Too much "heat" in food says acupuncturist vet. She trained in FL, where alligator is used as a beef substitute. Dog absolutely loves it! It's expensive, but if it cures the situation, I'll be happy!

Works great with allergic dogs
By Beau on Jan 29, 2021
I have tried several expensive dog foods when my vet suggested to change my pet food to help my dogs scratching. They did not help that much. This dog food really works! No more scratching and everybody’s happier!!

They like it! They actually like it!

Two extremely picky, male, English bulldogs have been placed on hydrolyzed food pending allergy test. Tried another flavor and they would not even touch it. Tried Blue buffalo NP and they like it!

Less itching, less shedding, & softer coat
By CatChow on Oct 11, 2020
My vet recommended this food because our dog has skin allergies and was itching and shedding constantly. He is a white pit bull mix. We've been using this product for 3 months and I've noticed less shedding & itching. Also his coat is softer and he is not itching his ears as much. I like this product but it's very expensive especially when you add on the wet food - that's why I took one star off the review. Chewy does a great job on delivery and packaging.

Best food ever
By CajunGirl on Oct 15, 2019
Both of my Pomeranians has had diarrhea on and off for the last 3 years. We were told to change their food to Blue Buffalo Alligator by the veterinarian due to them having food allergies. Neither of them has had diarrhea since we have made the change. I wish we would have made this change 3 years ago. It would have saved us a lot of money at the vet and my babies would have not had to gone through the discomfort of having diarrhea
