What is the difference between ‘Adult’ and ‘Mature’ formulations?

Your older, mature dog will need a good, well-balanced diet that is lower in calories, higher in fiber, and has adequate protein and fat. For some senior dogs, you can continue to feed their regular food, but in a smaller quantity. Specially formulated senior (mature) diets are lower in calories and help to create a feeling of fullness.

Searched high and low for an affordable , lower calorie wet dog food that didn't have lots of unhealthy ingredients and that our sweet girl would love to complement her kibble. This Chicken Soup for the Soul Mature Chicken, Turkey and Duck Recipe was the answer to our prayers. We mix in a tablespoon with her kibble and she eats every last bite. She is feeling and looking good. We ordered a subscription and hope she never tires of this food. She (and we) like the consistency - creamy with a few visible veggies but not too chunky. It doesn't smell awful and she has had no ill effects. We stir the food around in the can when first opened then keep it covered in the fridge. We like all the ingredient info available on Chewy so that we were able to research before ordering.

It's made by and sourced from the US. Excellent ingredients, no meals or by products. The pate texture is perfect for my dog. I went through many different cases of dog food, including prescription diets that he would not eat. I was sadly convinced he had reached the end of his life, as he has a significant heart murmur and some liver and kidney issues. He had gotten quite thin. Then I started researching the the ingredients in this dog food and decided I had nothing to loose by trying it. He has really perked up and is starting to put on some weight. He hasn't had any bowel issues and is not vomiting with this food, which has been chronic all of his life. I wish I had found this food years ago. Maybe he'll reach his 19th birthday in May.

Dogs seem to love this food, but I do not buy it for our dog. If you have a finicky eater (I don't) you should definitely try this food. It does have brown rice

Dogs seem to love this food, but I do not buy it for our dog. If you have a finicky eater (I don't) you should definitely try this food. It does have brown rice and barley grain as fillers, but it also has an interesting combination of fruits and vegetables also. I certainly would not call it a "bad" food for dogs, but if your pet is not finicky about eating, there are other products that are cheaper and grain-free that I think maybe you should try first. This food is similar to the Natural Balance dog foods which I have tried, my dog loves, but I have moved on to other less expensive brands.. If you are on a definite budget you may want to try the By Nature 95% products.

I disposed of a case of the next shipment of badly dented cans because the can I opened was darker in color than normally. Chewy immediately replaced the bad cans. I'm a fan of the Chicken Soup books, so naturally, I gravitated towards this brand because of the brand name. I also love that their poultry blend of chicken, turkey, and duck are my dogs' favorites. My dogs are all 7+ years old, so I was thrilled to have found the mature version of this recipe. Upon opening the can, I thought I opened a can of human-grade luncheon meat/pate. It's a pleasant smell. My dogs ran into the kitchen. Upon scooping the pate, I loved what I saw - whole peas and grains of rice and all sorts of goodness. My dogs happily devoured this food. It's a great value for the amount that comes in the case, and I'm so glad it's available for autoship. Never stop carrying this product, Chewy! My pups love y'all for it!

This product has all the good stuff needed, just a little grain and is so affordable. I mix it with a dry natural kibble I get from a local holistic supplier. My dog hated this at first. I gave it to him 3 times (1/3 of a can at a time just to see if he'd eat it) and he would sniff it and walk away. I wasn't surprised. He's pretty picky. Then I tried a Blue Buffalo wet food for seniors and he refused to eat that one too. Since I still had 11 cans of this left, I figured I'd try it one more time before I donated it. He ended up eating it and he loves it! I have no idea why he wouldn't eat it the first 3 times, but now he eats it every day and he prefers this instead of his dry food, which he also loves. He's 12. Maybe he likes it because it's easier on his teeth. BONUS - this is the first wet food he's had that doesn't give him diarrhea/soft poop.
