I had previously used one of the typical battery-powered grinders like you'd find on TV. It worked, but bogged down very easily and took a long time to do my 5 Pitties' nails. They're big, thick nails, and the new grinder handles them with ease. It cut my time to do my weekly nail trimming and polishing by about 70% and I don't even need to use the clippers, first :-)
It does hum

Not horribly loud. Not quiet either. Did not bother puppy turning it on. She seems to have wanted to play with it. Did not like it on her nails. If you do it early and get them use to it I think will be just fine. When my husband did it with her she did not mind as much. It is worth a shot.
Couldn't even use it

I can't get the stone off the grinder to swap it out for the sanding band. I keep re-reading the minimal instructions and trying to get the stone off, but it won't release. I have tried to find a video online to show me if I'm doing something wrong. No luck.
My Dog Carla Love's it!!

The ConairPro Professional Nail Grinder is excellent! It's quite and when in use it took no time at all to file Carla's nails down. And she didn't fight us about doing her nails because of noise, or become to fidgety because of taking to long. This Nail Grinder is very highly recommended in my book! And I think Carla agrees
Good nail grinder

So this seems like a great nail grinder but my dog hates getting her nails done and would not tolerate it. It works like it should and seems like a great quality nail grinder. Would still recommend even though my dog disliked it!

Found it much easier to acclimate my dog to the nail grinder (He hates nail clippers). Grinder is quiet and felt easy to use with or without cover. After introducing him to the grinder with praise and treats he was accepting and we successfully trimmed his nails. Much easier for dog n owner to accomplish the task of trimming.
Only draw back is the attachments for device have round connections which allow for loosening or slippage. Should have been created with a different shape like a square prevent loosening or slippage. Feels as though you can not tighten enough.
My high-strung dog doesn’t hate this nail grinder!

My dog really hates having her feet handled. Her nails get so long, and she’s such a handful that they don’t get trimmed as often or as well as they should, so they get longer. Following the instructions that came with the nail grinder, I first got her used to the sound and vibration of the tool. She still jerked away at first, but when it did not hurt her, she let me work on her nails. Victory!

I don't usually leave reviews, but this ConairPRO is special. We've tried a dremel and the dogs totally freaked over that with the loud noise it made. We've used heavy grade nail files and that doesn't get it either. But, they tolerate this dremel. It's pretty quite, not loud and scary for them and it works like a dremel tool but it's perfect for dogs. We have two Australian Shepherds and they're not the most calm dogs, but they let us use the ConairPRO on them. I highly recommend.
SCARY! Motor is LOUD
on Dec 11, 2020
The bottom line is that the motor is so loud, it terrifies the dog. We tried coaxing him to it with treats, put peanut butter on it so he could lick it. He'll come cautiously for the treat, but runs off as fast as he can. Woudn't even tough it with the PB. I couldn't get near his nails and got bit instead!

I'm sure it works great but Kyle won't even let me get near him so Chewy gave me a refund and I gave it to my vet. I love Chewy!!
