This food isn't intended to deter raccoons.

Can the Hot Pepper Delight suets be bought in larger sizes? We have large suet holders and need to put 4 in each one instead of 2 big ones.

Squirrels won't eat it, but the birds do not seem to like it either. They used to eat it, but I have noticed with the last couple of orders, it takes forever for the birds to devour a cake. I have lots of birds visiting my feeders(seed feeder, peanut feeder, suet feeder, heated bird bath), so it is not because there are not many different varieties visiting. The birds just don't seem to find this suet tasty any longer. I have ordered a different kind and am hoping for better consumption since the weather has decided to be very cruel this winter.

I have bought C&S many times. What makes their hot pepper suet the best is that they blend actual red peppers into the cake making it a darker orange/reddish color and, I believe, more homogeneous throughout the suet cake. The birds in Louisiana eat it up in no time. The other cheaper brands just blend capsaicin, the active chemical compound found in red pepper. That makes a world of difference.

I feed a few of these blocks to my chickens over the winter. Some people claim the hot peppers work as a dewormer. I'm not sure if that is true or not but I hope it is as I would prefer to use natural remedies over Pharmaceuticals which affect the edibility of eggs. If nothing else it's a good source of fat for the birds in cold weather. The price seems high for a block of fat, but what isn't expensive?

All of these appeared to be very old. The outsides were yellowish in color and very crumbly. The birds are working on the suet blocks, but ONLY after I cut off the outside; messy indeed. I have purchased this many times and this is the first they have been in this condition.

For years always got this brand and this type, and the birds were many eating it up. This year not so many birds. Wonder if the company changed its formula. Heard something about corn being changed in general, this suet does have corn in it, could that be the reason. Mother nature knows.

Today I went out to check all my feeders and found to of my beautiful finches dead they had crawled and threw the top of the suet holders since there is a grab between the cover and the double holder and the died facing down. and I did not notice it till this morning after the heavy rain storm we had over the last couple of days. Very sad. Product is very sturdy and does protect against squirrels getting at the.suet, but the space should not exist. The holders should be moved closer to the top to cover those holes. Please pay attention to this matter and closed photos of the two dead birds next to the holder. Notice how low suet holders are.

I've had awesome luck with this suet. It keeps the squirrels out of my suet feeders, but the birds absolutely love it. They will frequently go for this over the seed feeders. I have it on autoship because it is so popular with the birds in my yard.

Now this suet is the real thing: so hot I have to wear gloves to load it into the feeder, and then make sure I turn the gloves wrong side out. The birds love it, and the squirrels will NOT touch it, so each cake lasts at least a week. This will be my go-to from now on, so I hope the manufacturer doesn't change a thing!
