These Homemade Disney Doggy Donuts Are Pure Magic

Treat the Pluto to your Mickey to this delicious DIY dog treat, inspired by the famous Mickey Celebration Donuts offered at the Disney Parks.

If you ask us, one of the most magical things about visiting Disneyland and Disney World is the food, of course. From sweet treats to savory snacks, the Instagram-worthy goodies are utter eye-candy—and delicious to boot! Now, with this DIY dog treat (created by cookbook authors and Trunk Pop Dinners co-founders Marge Perry and David Bonom), you can share that magical culinary experience with your pup.

Featuring all dog-safe pantry ingredients, a couple of pet food staples and a sweet strawberry glaze, these Disney Doggy Donuts are shaped in the visage of everyone’s favorite mouse and are quick and easy to make (you’ll be done in well under an hour!). They’re also the perfect pairing to any of the brand new items in The Disney Collection at Chewy. 1 cup whole wheat flour (plus some additional for dusting)

1/2 cup old fashioned oats

3/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 cup mashed ripe banana (about 1 small banana)

1/3 cup natural creamy peanut butter

2 eggs, divided

1/4 cup water

2 strawberries, washed and hulled

6 ounces plain nonfat Greek yogurt

Pup-Peroni Lean Beef Flavor Dog Treats, finely chopped (optional)

Beggin’ Strips Bacon & Beef Flavor Dog Treats (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover a large sheet pan with parchment paper. Combine the flour, oats and baking powder in a medium bowl.

2. In a separate bowl, combine the banana, peanut butter, one of the eggs and water. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until well combined.

3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and roll to a 1/4-inch thickness. Using a 2-inch biscuit cutter, cut out 16 circles. Cut out the center of each circle with a 1-inch biscuit cutter. Cut out an additional 16 (1-inch) circles out of the rolled-out scraps.

4. Place the 2-inch circles on the prepared sheet pan. Beat the remaining egg in a small bowl. Brush the edge of two of the 1-inch dough circles with the egg wash and press them onto the top of one of the 2-inch circles to form ears. Repeat with remaining 1-inch circles.

5. Bake until the dough is set and lightly browned, 9-11 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool completely.

6. For the frosting, mash the strawberries in a bowl with a fork. Add the yogurt and mix well.

7. Dip the front of each cooled donut into the frosting to coat. Spread with a small spatula or butter knife if necessary.

8. Optional: While the strawberry frosting is still wet, finely chop the Pup-Peroni Lean Beef Flavor Dog Treats and add these tasty “sprinkles” to the frosting. Then, cut out two triangles and a small square from Beggin’ Strips Bacon & Beef Flavor Dog Treats for each donut. Place the shapes onto the wet frosting for a Minnie Mouse-inspired bow.

Allow frosting to dry completely at room temperature before serving.
