1. Haulover Beach

- Address: 10800 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
- Hours: Sunrise to sunset
- Rules: Dogs are allowed off-leash in designated areas.
Located between towers No. 2 and 3, Haulover’s dog beach is a sandy paradise for South Florida pups.
Supervised dogs can roam off-leash along the coast, then head to a dog park located near the south picnic area to enjoy plenty of shade trees, picnic tables, drinking fountains, waste bag dispensers, waste containers, and an ample open grassy space for your dog to explore freely without a leash. There are two enclosures: one for small dogs (under 35 pounds) and another for large breeds.
Back on the beach, there’s a limit of two dogs per person, and dogs must be over six months old. Also, be sure to clean up any messes your dog leaves behind and fill any holes they dig.
2. Hobie Island Beach Park

This 9.6-acre beach on the Rickenbacker Causeway is considered Miami’s premier dog-friendly beach for good reason. Its shallow waters offer ample room for pups to splash around. Constant breezes keep things cool for pets and their people alike. Plus, it’s one of the most picturesque beaches in the area, thanks to the postcard view of downtown Miami and Brickell skylines.
The beach recently reopened after suffering extensive damage during Hurricane Irma in 2017. There’s improved parking, native species plantings, and a new pedestrian and bicycle path.
3. Bark Beach at South Beach

- Address: 2100 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
- Hours: From April–October, open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. From November–March, open 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- Rules: Dogs are allowed off-leash in designated areas
Opened in 2024, the Bark Beach at South Beach is one of three—yes, count ’em, three—dog beaches in Miami Beach. This one is the closest to the city’s tourist epicenter.
During the morning hours, you and your best friend can enjoy the sand and surf off-leash. And no need to worry about South Beach’s other animal residents, like the sea turtles who frequently nest along its shores—Bark Beach is located far from those nesting grounds, so your pup will have little environmental impact during their visit.
4. Bark Beach at Mid-Beach

- Address: 5300 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
- Hours: From April–October, open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. From November–March, open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- Rules: Dogs are allowed off-leash in designated areas
Closer to grand resorts like the Fontainebleau and Eden Roc, the dog beach in Mid-Beach is a few minutes north of South Beach, but no less beautiful.
Here, the beach is not as expansive as it is farther south, making it easier to supervise dogs who are prone to roaming. Plus, the morning hours give you and your pup the chance to enjoy warm Atlantic waters before the crowds show up.
5. Bark Beach at North Beach

- Address: 8100 Collins Ave., Miami Beach
- Morning hours: April–October from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. daily; November–March from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily
- Afternoon hours: Fridays through Sundays. March–October 3 to 7 p.m. and November–February 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
- Rules: Dogs are allowed off-leash in designated areas
The Bark Beach at North Beach, Miami Beach’s original dog beach, is the only one in the city that offers both morning and afternoon hours for you and your dog to enjoy. Your pup can play in the surf off-leash, and restrooms and a water fountain are available in the adjacent park.
6. Canine Beach

- Address: 1269 N. Fort Lauderdale Blvd., Fort Lauderdale
- Hours: 6 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. daily
- Rules: Dogs must be kept on leashes a maximum of 6 feet in length.
This 100-yard section of Fort Lauderdale Beach, located between lifeguard towers 15 and 16, welcomes pups and their people. It’s a popular spot for friendly dog parents to catch up while their pups play in the waves. Note that although you may see some pet parents allowing their dogs to roam freely, city rules state that all dogs must remain on leash.
7. Hollywood Dog Beach

- Address: 4999 N. Surf Road, Hollywood
- Hours: Sunrise to sunset daily
- Rules: Off-leash in designated areas
Located between the Pershing and Custer Street lifeguard stands, this picturesque beach spans one city block. Lifeguards at each post help keep pups and people safe, and you’ll have access to waste bins for easy poop bag disposal. Glass containers, fireworks, balloons, and whistles are prohibited here, which makes the environment more welcoming for your canine friend.
Hollywood Dog Beach is almost a mile north of the crowded Hollywood Boardwalk, but it can still get pretty busy on weekends. If you want to avoid the crowds, consider sticking to weekdays.
