Compounding is a way for licensed pharmacists to create a customized medication that meets your pets specific needs. Compounding pharmacists mix or change one or more FDA-approved medications to prepare a special medication for your pet. For example, if a medication is only available in pill form, the pharmacist might create it in liquid, gel, or capsule form.
Your pet may have a specific health need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. For example:
Always talk with your veterinarian about any concerns you have about your pets health so they can prescribe a treatment for your pets unique needs.

I have two cats on this medicine; one I am able to hide in his food the other is not as good of an eater and sniffs it out. When I gave him this medicine via a pill shooter he would drool every time. I felt terrible! I thought because it was chicken flavor I would have no problem giving it to him; sadly I was wrong. I had to get a new prescription and get it from a local pharmacy. Like I said it has worked for my other cat because I am able to hide it in his food but if you have a cat that won't take the pill in food this may not be the best choice. I hate to provide a negative review but I don't want anyone wasting their money either. By luck my other cat takes it no problem but otherwise I would be donating it and having to spend money elsewhere.
Toby is horrible to pill and I’m very good at pilling cats. I chose this medication for two reasons: his dosage needs and the ability to put it in a capsule. Because it’s so small, I can put his 3.75 mg in a size 5 capsule and then give it to him in the ONLY treat he likes- Churu lickable treats.
I have two older male cats and after 5 years of using the litter box they decided that wasn't going to happen. After years of Miricale cleaners that did not work most of the time these pills did. They still have accidents (haha) but it's so much better.
I dealt with my cat not using his multiple litter boxes for a couple of years. I tried so hard to figure out what his issue was. Tried many different litter types, finally settling on piddle pads, his choice. But, he still wasn't completely happy. After consulting with TWO behaviorist, I finally made the decision to try medication, something I was always reluctant to do. All the medical professionals felt stress was the problem. Naturally, I thought-stress? He's a cat, for Pete's sake, I'm the one stressed out here. After a complete medical check up, he was started on the fluoxetine. I was counseled that 8 weeks was the time frame needed to decide if it was beneficial. I give it to him daily, mixed with a small amount of a "push up" treat. I have to say that I really didn't see any consistent improvement until very close to the 8 week time-line mentioned. Wow! I'm SO happy to report that it's doing what we hoped. He did go through the first 2 weeks kind of "drowsy" but, acclimated to the medicine very well after that. I wish I had agreed to try this medicine 3 years ago!
Pilling a cat is never fun, especially when they don’t like the taste and eventually learn how to avert the pill going in. This flavored and tiny pill has made the process much easier. I will continue buying this version over flavorless pills
I searched everywhere to get help with my one cat. I adopted sisters but Molly had some anxiety which escalated with any loud noise which resulted in her attacking her sister Maisy. I tried to find behavioural pet help and so many vets but no one would help me. I didn't want to re home this girl as I too have anxiety issues so I know she didn't have control over it. I finally found a vet to look at her and she prescribed Fluoxetine and it has definately helped.
These are fine. They are tiny tablets but they do not appear to be a compounded chicken flavor. They are just little white pills and we give them in pill pockets.
I ordered this medication for my cat who was having aggression issues. She took it for 2 days and was very sleepy. On the third day of being on the medication, she became more aggressive than she was prior to starting the medication and had to be put to sleep as a result. I am not sure if this was going to happen anyway or if it was a reaction from the medication. All I know is that I no longer have my companion and am devastated as a result.
My cat refused to eat it even when mixed into dry or wet treats. Tasted it myself, bitter and definitely not chicken flavored.
I ordered this because my picky and tempermental cat refuses to eat any food or treat with any type of medication. I was hoping this would be less bitter tasting than the original tablet. Absolutely not. I think the manufacturer is just hoping pet owners won't do their own taste test. I tested a tiny sliver of it and that was enough to make me want to gag. Of COURSE a cat won't eat this!
