This is one of THE MOST EFFECTIVE meds for the problem of inappropriate urination. There are a number of options, but for me and my two cats with whom I have had issues (and several friends' cats), THIS is a miracle. I especially like that a transdermal application reduces the mutual stress potentially involved in pilling a cat. If you have a kitty that is peeing where s/he shouldn't, make sure to rule out actual health issues, but if the cause is determined to be behavioral, I'd bet on this solution.

We were at our wits end with figuring out how to help our sweet “ Birdie” with her urinary issues. Constant flare ups, trying to use the litter box and only able to pee a few drops. She was miserable and we were at the vet every other week. She had an xray and it showed nothing. The vet suggested an anti-anxiety med and trying to give her pills just added to her anxiety and mine as well. This is so easy to administer on the inside of her ear and she has become a different cat. No flare ups in 4 months, she’s happy and content with no anxiety. It’s more expensive than pills, but I’ll pay it to have my cat healthy with just one dose per day. Miracle drug for sure!

I have 2 cats with anxiety. One developed a serious stress related medical condition and had inappropriate urinary issues because of his stress. This product changed our lives. He hasn’t had one episode of inflammation in his bladder (no emergency vet trips!) or any inappropriate urinary issues since he started taking a 5mg dose a year ago. He’s also happier and our relationship is stronger and so much better since he is more relaxed and we have been amble to bond. It didn’t work at all for my other boy though. Luckily his anxiety doesn’t induce a life threatening reaction, because I discontinued the medication and his sweet personality returned. It was interesting to watch it work so well for one cat and not work at all for another, but it’s definitely worth trying. We are so grateful for what it has done for our sweet boi.

My Zoe was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and it was caught early. I love the dispenser the transdermal cream comes in. It’s super easy to dispense and apply it to her ear. She doesn’t mind it and often purrs! And I’m happy that I was able to set up an Autoship for this because it ensures I will not run out of it.

Our cat was peeing outside of her litter box. Once we ruled out anything nefarious, our vet suggested we try this medication. Getting our Penny to take a pill proved to be impossible. So we decided to try this easy to use gel, once daily in her ear. And we haven’t had a single accident! In addition, It has made our cat less standoffish with visitors, and we couldn’t be happier!

I tried liquid and caplets and it was a disaster unfortunately, this might take longer to kick in, I don't know, but at least I know I'm medicating her. poor baby cries (meows) to sleep every day and chews on anything and everything that crosses her path. I hope this is working. at least I know she's getting it.

My cat was becoming very aggressive to another one of my cats. His behavior has softened substantially since using this product. The transdermal type has been very easy to use for him and has no detectable odor or feeling on his skin. It's like an unscented lotion.

For a while now, my cat and I have been experiencing behavioral issues. He became more aggressive with me and other animals, one day chose to urinate outside the litterbox, and seemed more anxious all around. After an in-depth medical evaluation, my DVM suggested this medication. Keep in mind that this is an SSRI, so your pet's behavior may not change for up to four weeks. He has been on this since the beginning of this year, and he has changed into a new cat. He is now more affectionate with us, much less hostile toward other pets, and appears more comfortable lounging in the open rather than hiding. It is worthwhile to try for an anxious cat, though again, results might not be seen for a few weeks.

Helps a Lot with Urine-Marking & Anxiety-Aggression

We have three high-strung cats. They are a mother cat we rescued from a feral colony and two of her grown kittens, raised in our household. We have other cats, too, and the ones from the feral colony seem just to be extremely skittish by nature. We began using transdermal fluoxitine ("kitty Prozac") in 2022, and it takes a few weeks to really take effect (just like Prozac in humans), but it has reduced their urine marking by about 90% and cut way down on their scuffles with other cats. They did not like the smell of the transdermal cream at first and would flee from it, but they have gotten used to it and barely twitch an ear when it's dosing time. Transdermal meds work by pushing the medicine through the skin, and anything else on the skin gets pushed in, too. This is why you sometimes see irritation and/or the kitty scratching the ear, sometimes to the point of small scabs. I try to clean each cat's ear regularly with a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol, and keep the dosing tip very clean. This has all but eliminated skin irritation in my cats' ears. Overall, Prozac has helped my kitties immensely, and the transdermal ear dab is so, so much easier than trying to give them a pill.

This helped my cat's anxiety, which was causing crystalitis. Once in a while, she will still get crystalitis, but very rarely. Now she gets it, if there's something going on, that's making her really anxious like when I leave town. Then I have to give her gabapentin and it goes away.
