Frisco 33-in Heavy Duty Sisal Cat Scratching Post, Brown

I love how tall this is for my long cat and it's heavy enough that it doesn't tip over easily when both the big and small cat scratch on it. Neither cat is super jazzed about scratching on it. They use it but not vigorously like they do others and I think it's because of the material in place for scratching. It doesn't feel like sisal, it's more like a textured, plastic-y feeling material. My cats use this but not as often as I had hoped and more for just a passing scratch, like they do it because it's there, not because it's super satisfying for them. The top and base are that faux fur sort of fabric, which is also not my favorite for longevity. Overall, the quality of this is really good, especially with how sturdy it is, but my cats have minimal interest in it, I think due to the texture of the scratching material.

I bought 2 for the cats and it arrived and looks just like the picture does!. Heavy. But my cats won’t touch them. Not sure why. I’ve tried even putting cat nip on them with no luck. So very durable from the looks of it but none of my 6 cats will go near them. I think could be great for maybe kittens? But although my cats love scratching posts usually they just don’t care for them sadly

I don't know if we just got a lemon, but the scratching post fell apart pretty much immediately after assembling it. The board that is part of the post between the carpet base and the post detached from the post, making the scratching post unusable and wobbly. It would have fallen right over if my cat tried to use it. We definitely should have sent it back, but that seemed like a lot of trouble to put something so big in the mail, so my husband used his drill to hold it together and make it functional again. This mostly did the trick, but it feels a bit unsturdy still, and my cat is cautious about using it. She doesn't like it as much as the old post that she had before.
