Room for Improvement
I have a total of six of these litter boxes. With six indoor cats, I have one high pee’r. Linus managed to hit that opening in the back, about half of his visits to the box! I covered the holes with wide, clear packing tape, and that helped… until whilst carrying them outside for thorough disinfecting, the front piece snapped on most of them. Perhaps an issue with the plastic at the time of manufacturing (?). The design of the high sides is great. The actual size of the box is fairly small, but it does handle my two big boys who are 13 & 18 pounds! Perhaps a reboot, without the rear or front “handles” and a slightly larger footprint. As always, Chewy is the best for providing so many choices!
Works but wish it was a little bigger
I bought this b/c my big boy decided to start standing and spraying the wall from his box instead of squatting down in the box. This solved that problem thankfully. However, he is a rather large cat (12lbs and that's a vet approved weight) and this seems just a smidge tight for him. He's using it but I wish he had a little more space to turn around on the bottom part of it. My smaller 9lb cat has plenty of space in it.
Simple, but wonderful
Cat litter boxes have always been a challenge, and my current cat is the first cat I've had who hates being in a confined space, so closed litter box isn't an option. (When I tried, she went on the pad outside, but wouldn't go in. She's a rescue who I think had been in more than one shelter and clearly has issues with being confined.) I find it very difficult to keep things neat with typical open litter box, but this really works and she's fine with it since it has no cover. She is very careful to NOT go by the opening, so that's not an issue, and she adjusted to it, actually preferred it, right away, so we are both very happy with it.
Really does crack
I read the reviews before buying that several people experienced cracks in the litter box. Sadly after only two weeks the litter box cracked down the side after being picked up to clean around the outside of the box.
excellent for my girl. She crawls up the walls scratching too cover her evidence. I bought a large corner box to no avail. THIS ONE does the trick. Once she missed and pooped out of the entry hole, but just once. We use Pretty Litter so one bag fits perfectly. If I had Two cats, I would have two boxes; too small to share in my opinion. Pleased with the purchase. I have no intention of picking it up by the sides to pour out the litter, just so you know
Love it, but
The strip on the top front broke on both purchased containers. Appears to be a flaw in the design or the plastic itself. Has anyone else had the problem? Otherwise I love the ease of cleaning and minimal litter drag out of the containers.
Seems to work so far
I have several cats, but 1 in particular not only doesn't squat when peeing, he elevates his rear as high as it can go; Previous unlidded boxes weren't high enough so I went to lidded ones. Another of my cats won't use lidded ones. So......This box so far seems to be working for both, although I had to block the hole in the back.
Great height, little leg room
The height on this is very good, the previous litter box I purchased had a max height of 11" and wasn't high enough for my cat (I'm still trying to get the odor out from a concrete floor in the bathroom nook where her box is located). While the height is great, the leg room (listed at 17.3" but in reality is 15") is too small for my 12 lb cat. Previously I used to make her litter boxes from storage containers -- a real chore, however, very functional. She liked the extra space, walking around and circling for the perfect spot to do her business. So far she's using this new box but I do wish there was more leg room. I also covered the opening (handle) in the back with waterproof tape (suggested by another reviewer) and thank goodness I did because that is where some of the pee ended up when she used that side of the box. The other handle at the front is a bit of pain when I need to daily scoop, it gets in the way. It would be better if that handle wasn't there and instead have a beveled edge all around the litter box to facilitate lifting. I previously used to make her box from storage containers (a laborious job), however, there was ample height and space for kitty to move and circle around the box to find the perfect spot to do her business. Why can't a cat litter box manufacturer just use the high sided storage containers as a model for a litter box, with the front part cut appropriately for entry (instead of DIY boxes that have to be either sawed or melted down)? No doubt this would be a real money maker because I've read there are enough people who would need that kind of box for their high sided urinator kitties. Maybe I should go into business and do that myself and make a bunch of money. :D Yes, I recommend this because it's the highest side available but paltry leg room.
Height is great!
The height is just what I was looking for as I have a tall cat that hits about 2.5 inches from the top. I have to cover the opening for the handle with plastic. He was peeing over the top of all the other boxes. I gave it 4 stars because it would be easier scooping if it had 4 corners and it does not need the handle.
Frisco.... please make this a few inches taller or without the handle/opening on the back. I have a tall car who is a high pee-er, and he peed riiiight out there hole! Otherwise this is the perfect litter box. Lightweight, flexible, super easy to clean. I'd love to stop buying clunky Rubbermaid bins. Please make a taller one :)
