I purchased 2 of these litter boxes to replace the plastic ones that had gotten scratched and hard to clean in less than a year. These changed the game for me. Litter slides outs easily, No clumping in the corners. Sides are high enough. Kitties adjusted without any hassle. They do not hold any smell. Best investment!
One of the biggest complaints I've always had with plastic litter boxes is their problem of retaining not only odors but bacteria. I had looked into biodegradable litter boxes, but that comes with the problem of having to replace the box every so often, probably more often then you would a normal litter box. Then I discovered the concept of stainless steel litter boxes, which until recently I had never heard of. So I went out on a limb and bought one for my now 13 year old cat. Fortunately, unlike a lot of other cats, he's not very finicky. He's also the sort of cat who will not go anywhere but the litter box. It turned out to be a little different from what I was expecting and yet at the same time it was exactly as described. The only awkward part was the sticker they placed inside the box, which took a little bit of doing to remove it, but I eventually did get it, and once I said it up there was no problem about getting my cat to use it. This probably would not be a good box for a kitten simply because it is deeper than the average litter pan, but for an adult cat There shouldn't be any problems, unless of course the cat doesn't like the sound or the feel of the stainless steel surface under the clause which thankfully mine doesn't seem to have a problem with. But after having it for a few weeks so far it definitely seems much easier to clean than the old plastic pan. I would encourage any cat owner who is tired of the stinky plastic litter pans to at least give one of these a try and see how they like it.
I wish I knew about these years ago!!! I have a cat rescue with many foster kittens that come & go & these don’t hold odors & are so extremely easy to clean & disinfect!! All plastic boxes have been trashed!!!!
The steel box is okay. It hasn't been hard to clean in the last few weeks I've owned it, which is good. However, it could definitely be like 2 inches taller. My cat has never had issues peeing outside the litter box, and I find myself cleaning pee off the edge and in my little box container (I have one of those furniture litter box containers). It literally starts on the edge, so even an inch would make a huge difference. Also, chewie shipped the litter box with some new litter which caused the edges to bend. Not the biggest deal, but worth noting. The price of stainless steel litterboxes is a little insane, so this discounted price perhaps explains the shortcomings of the box, and it may work better for other cats.
I had already purchased one of these from that place named after a South American river, and it was less expensive, but Chewy was so kind to me when my precious kitty crossed the Bridge that I decided that I preferred to give them my money....this box was only $5 more than the one from the other place and yet is 100x better. It's sturdy. It has little rubber feet on the bottom, and it cleans like a dream. It takes a little getting used to for the cats who find the feeling under their claws to be odd, but they all love and use it now. Also, Chewy deliveries are in my house mere days after I place my order. What more could you want? Forget that river place, buy ALL your cat supplied from Chewy!
This looks nice and matches my washer and dryer, but none of my 7 cats like it. I don't think they like the scratching sound on metal. Disappointing because it was expensive and a bit bulky to return. I wish I had just replaced some of the other pans with the high back litter maids which is what they are used to and like. I should know better to change things on them. Sigh....
This pan is great. It is deep enough & large enough for our 4 cats to use. It holds a lot of litter. We use Scoop Away litter and have no problem at all with litter sticking to it. It is easy to clean & does not hold odor like plastic pans. When I fist saw the higher price of it, I was hesitant to buy....but beleive me...it is worth every penny! Stainless steel lasts almost forever. (we are still using our pets stainless steel water & food bowls we bought way back in 1980, and they have no wear at all).
First, my rescue cat is great at using her two large plastic litter boxes, but I noticed they were not large enough for her to turn around and stand completely in. When I adopted her, she was a two-year-old weighting four pounds and now she weights twelve pounds. Since it was time to replace the boxes, I decided to try the stainless steel. This is a nice option! I put some of her used litter, minus the poo and wet clumps, in it and she used it immediately. It is roomy enough for her to completely fit and turn around. The shelter that I volunteered at used stainless steel litter boxes because they are easy to sterilize and last forever. My only complaint is that it's a bit heavier to move around and clean. Also uses a bit more litter but well worth it!
The material is great but the size of the pan is a little awkward but what I need. I bought for my 15 year old boy who was missing the shorter pans sometimes but he still uses the other pan. Maybe a matter of getting used to? I have 4 other cats so it would be very costly and take up too much space to buy more of these pans.
This metal litter box is nice wish it were about 1 to 2 inches shorter in length. I put this in a 3 tier cat pen and it’s a tight fit
