Learn More About Frontline Plus From Our Team of Experts

Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 90 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Fast-Acting, Long-Lasting Protection

Frontline Plus is formulated with two active ingredients that kill fleas and ticks and prevent new flea infestations from developing. It’s waterproof 24 hours after application, lasts for a full 30 days, and comes in formulas for cats or dogs.

Easy One-Spot Topical Application

Frontline Plus is a spot-on solution that’s available without a prescription. 1 dose = 30 days of protection.

Protects Your Pet

  • Starts killing fleas and ticks fast and protects against reinfestation.
  • Waterproof for a full 30 days starting 24 hours after application.
  • Monthly dosing keeps your dog protected for every season.

How to Apply

Follow these simple steps for application:

  1. Hold upright with foil side toward you and snap applicator tip.
  2. Part hair and apply on shoulder blades, completely emptying the pipette.
  3. Leave the solution to spread through your pet's coat.

About Frontline Plus

To ensure your dog stays protected from fleas and ticks all year round, treat them monthly with Frontline Plus. This simple, easy, one-spot topical solution helps keep your pet free from infestations, providing you with peace of mind.

How long after applying Frontline does it take for fleas and ticks to die

Answer by ChewyJul 21, 2019
In a study, FRONTLINE Plus began killing fleas 4 hours after application. Another study showed that within 12 hours, Frontline Plus killed 100% of fleas. This kills fleas and ticks through contact with your pet's haircoat so no biting is necessary. Fleas rise to the top of your pet's haircoat as they die. So, if you start seeing more fleas after treating your pet, consider it a victory for the killing force.

What’s the difference between frontline plus and frontline gold?

Answer by ChewyNov 25, 2020
Both, Frontline Plus and Frontline Gold, are effective against ticks, fleas, and lice in both immature and adult versions. The only difference is that Frontline Gold kills fleas faster than Frontline Plus does. Frontline Gold has added a powerful third ingredient, pyriproxyfen which helps to kill the next generation of flea eggs and larvae before they can develop in to adult fleas. Both products require monthly applications and are safe to use in all dogs and puppies above 8 weeks of age.

While our pups have been completely fine over the last few years with Frontline. I don’t think I can trust this any longer. It’s not only given one of my dogs a rash every time we put it on her, we’ve noticed for the last two months (at least) that these are not repelling ticks at all. This was found ALIVE on the bed next to our girls, meaning it had fed and released, and now I’m hoping they don’t get sick. Either these dosages are old, or they changed, because they’re no longer working.

My vet had me purchase from them one of those new multi chews. I found a tick crawling in me, several on her, attached and feeding, alive and dead, attached. After that I went back to the Frontline. I have only ever found dead, unattached ticks, never any fleas and have had no strays wandering around on me. Frontline works on contact with her skin, killing them before they bite. The other only kills them after being bitten and feeding for several minutes.

I applied this medication a week ago and my dog still has fleas alive inviting her. I shampooed her two days after applying the medication with flea killing shampoo. Unfortunately, that has not worked. I shampooed her six days later and she still has a problem. When I comb her, I can find no more than one at a time. In the last three weeks, I have combed approximately five fleas off her, yet after all this she still itches. Frontline is not working and I bought two of them so I am disappointed.

We switched to Frontline liquid from chewable for our dogs some years ago due to acquiring our heeler who has seizures and had learned that chewables may be a seisure trigger for some pets. No noticeable change in the seisure patterns since and rather dismayed that the fall of this year we had found multiple ticks on our dog whole using Frontline liquid regularly.

This time was a bit quirky. I’ve had no problems for the many years of getting frontline plus. This time by the time I saw the email about my next shipment, it was already being packed up-in about 4 hours. I didn’t need it for another month but wasn’t given the chance to change the delivery date. Always great service prior to this one incident.

It has not arrived yet today. I have had a battle here, *chatting* with someone , probably no one, . I have chatted with them about 3 times, this package was finally supposed to arrive today, and it did not. My autoship that was supposed to arrive at my Moms' house today, did not arrive either. This Ontrac is not working for me. I will be calling, to find out the problem,

Defective Formula

I am canceling this auto ship and also will be requesting info for a return and refund for both the dog and cat frontline. Unfortunately frontline does not protect from fleas and ticks. Following my previous order and application of frontline, my dog suffered a skin allergy and needed the vet (2.5/3weeks after application of the frontline). The vet stated she had flees which was creating an allergic reaction. I shared I was using frontline and told the application date. The vet explained that Frontline’s formulation no longer works due to flees and ticks having built an immunity to it. She put her on a prescription based formula. I immediately brought my other dog and two cats in that same week and sure enough, they too had flees. The vet stated this is a known issue with Frontline’s formula for years. Adding that vets and Frontline are aware of this! I used frontline years ago with a pet that is now passed and I loved frontline so I was so shocked. Very disappointed in frontline because I truly thought frontline was a trusted company but for this to be a known issue and they continue to market and sell to pet owners is very deceptive! The vet put all my pets on a prescription based formula now that is working perfectly. I did not realize that I was signed up for a subscription to frontline until receiving the lasted package recently. So I not only want to cancel the auto ship but I would like a refund for the defective products as well. Though this is a Frontline issue and I love CHEWY, I am a bit taken back that CHEWY is allowing the sell of a known defective product and hope they look into what their stance should be with backing products on their site to customers.

I wish I had read recent reviews before purchase. Not only did it not kill the fleas my dog had but he got worse after applying. Even with a bath. Absolutely a waste
